First-Time JEGS Tour Winner to be Crowned Saturday in New Stars Showdown at Owosso Nationals

Owosso, MI – Officials with Champion Racing Association and Owosso Speedway have announced the details of Saturday’s JEGS/CRA New Stars Showdown as part of the prestigious Owosso Nationals weekend. The event, sanctioned by the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance is a special race featuring exclusively drivers who have not found victory lane in Pro or Super Late Model touring competition or a win in a high-profile Speedway hosted Pro or Super Late Model event. Aside from the bragging rights of winning the 40 lap contest, drivers will be able to cash in with prize money Saturday night as well.

The JEGS/CRA New Stars Showdown comes from the same vein as the New Stars races typically held for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman and CRA Street Stocks at Winchester Speedway during Winchester 400 weekend. The race serves as a special exhibition event to showcase talent that hasn’t broken out into a win with the JEGS Tour. The 40 lap race on Saturday night will be contested on the Hoosier ST1 and ST2, however, sticker tires will not be permitted. Stage 1 starting lineup will be built using speeds from the second practice session. The fastest six eligible cars in Practice 2 will draw for starting positions 1 through 6, while positions 7-20 will be determined via practice speeds. The race will be conducted in two, 20 lap, stages. The winner of Stage 1 will receive a $1,000 bonus. The finishing results of Stage 1 will determine the Starting Lineup for Stage 2 with a 1 through possible 6 invert. The winner of Stage 2 will collect $2,000 with pay back through the field down to a $250 start money.
