Used by permission from our friends at Mt. Lawn Speedway:
We have lost a treasured member of the short track racing community. On behalf of everyone at Mt Lawn Speedway, we would like to send our heartfelt condolences to the entire Steve Davis Family. Steve passed away this week at the age of 87.
Steve, better known as “Cigar Man”, was true racer and just loved being at the track. Racing for Steve was always a coveted seat for any hot shoe, because you knew he would do anything for you, he’d spend countless hours getting the car ready and always brought the best of the best to the track.
Steve never had to tell you if his car was good, he’d always let those pole qualifiers, track records and checkered flags speak for their selves. You would be hard pressed to find a more respected man around short track racing, he always brought out the best in the people and drivers he was around. His contributions to short track racing reach far beyond Mt Lawn Speedway but we are all grateful for what he has done and to have been able to call Cigar Man a FRIEND. He will be deeply missed.
Race In Heaven Steve
