Winchester 400 Pole Day to Be Presented by Vores

Special from Speed51.com – Saturday, October 10 will be a big day for Winchester 400 competitors, as they will qualify for their starting positions in the prestigious Super Late Model race. Saturday’s qualifying day for the Winchester 400 will be presented by Vore’s Welding and Steel.

Based in Fort Recovery, Ohio, Vore’s Welding and Steel has been a long-time supporter of short track racing in the Midwest.  They are best known as the title sponsor for the Vores Compact Touring Series, which will hold its 2020 season finale on Friday, October 9 as part of Winchester 400 weekend.

On Saturday, October 10, ARCA/CRA Super Series teams will be qualifying to set the field for Sunday’s Winchester 400.  The top driver in the session will receive the cash prize for the Fast Qualifier Award.

While the Winchester 400 is a long, grueling race, qualifying has proven important for the marquee race. Five of the last seven Winchester 400 winners have come from the top 10 starting positions, and no one has won the race from outside the top 20 since David Stremme won from 36th in 2008.

The highly-anticipated weekend in Winchester will begin on Thursday, October 8 with rotating practice starting at noon and ending at 5 p.m.

The ARCA/CRA Super Series Super Late Models will not be part of Friday’s on-track activities. Instead, Friday will be highlighted by the 100-lap championship race for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Pro Late Models.  The Vores Compact Touring Series will also be in competition for their 30-lap season finale on the high-banks.

Super Late Models from the ARCA/CRA Super Series, CRA Street Stocks, CRA Late Model Sportsman and Modifieds will invade Winchester on Saturday, October 10.

Qualifying for the 49th Winchester 400, which will be presented by Vores Welding and Steel, will begin at 4 p.m. prior to pre-race ceremonies at 4:45 p.m.  Racing will begin at 5 p.m. and include 50-lap features for the CRA Street Stocks, Modifieds and CRA Late Model Sportsman.  The 50-lap features for both the CRA Street Stocks and CRA Late Model Sportsman will be a 10-lap increase from recent years.

Following Saturday’s racing, fans and race teams will be able to enjoy themselves during a party in the pavilion.  This year’s party will include a trackside concert, with more information to be announced soon.

On Sunday, October 11 all focus will be on Super Late Models during the 49th Winchester 400.  A driver autograph session will be held in the midway at 11 a.m. prior to pre-race ceremonies at 12 p.m.  The green flag for 400 laps of racing on the Winchester high-banks will wave at 1 p.m.

Big names from throughout the Super Late Model world are expected to compete in the race, including a few drivers who have never competed on the high banks or haven’t competed at Winchester in quite some time.
