Winchester 200 CRA Street Stock Four Crown Series Championship Event This Saturday

Salem, IN (August 3, 2017) – The Lawrence Towing CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS will be back in action this Saturday on the High Banks of Winchester Speedway located in Winchester, IN. Saturday’s Winchester 200 will be the Championship event of the 2017 Lawrence Towing CRA Street Stock Four Crown Series, that featured four 200 lap, $3000 minimum to win events. The first Four Crown event was on April 15th at Shadybowl Speedway where Chuck Barnes Jr. came away with the win. The second Four Crown Event was on June 17th at Anderson Speedway were Brett Hudson got the win. The third Four Crown event was on July 15th at Kentucky Motor Speedway were Barnes Jr. got the win.

 

Saturday’s Winchester 200 will have an increased purse throughout the field including $3,500 to win.  This will be the first time the CRA Street Stocks have run a 200 lap event at Winchester Speedway since September 17, 2006 when Beau Mitchell bested a 41 car field to win that event. Jeff Lane won a 200 lap CRA Street Stock event at Winchester on September 18, 2005, the first time the series ever ran a 200 lap event.

 

The Four Crown Points Champion that will be crowned Saturday night from the four events will receive a $1000 bonus. Second in points will receive a $600 bonus, third place a $400 bonus, then there will be two $250 bonuses from a random draw from the cars that attended all four events.

 

Barnes Jr. leads the Four Crown points by 27 points over Hudson. Andrew Teepe is in third place, he is 23 points behind Hudson. James Kirby is in fourth place, he is six points behind Teepe. Derrick Layne is in fifth place, he is six points behind Kirby.

 

Each Four Crown event winner and the overall Champion will receive a specially designed buckle from Crumrine Buckle Manufacturing. Saturday’s Four Crown Series event will be a six tire race with a break at lap 100 to, change up to two tires, add fuel and make adjustments.

 

Saturday’s event will be the eighth point’s event of the season for the CRA Street Stocks. Barnes Jr. has won four of the first seven events, besides his win at Shadybowl and Kentucky Motor Speedway, he also got wins in the Cabin Fever event on April 2nd at Lucas Oil Raceway and in the EDCO 50 at the Short Track U.S. Nationals at Bristol Motor Speedway on May 20th. Hudson won the Anderson 200 and the series event at Salem Speedway on June 4th. Josh Poore got the win at the series first Anderson Speedway event of the season on May 7th.

 

Hudson is the series Championship point’s leader heading into Saturday night’s event. Josh Brading is in second place, he is 51 points behind Hudson. Teepe is in third place, he is four points behind Brading. Barnes Jr. is in fourth place, two points behind Teepe. James Kirby is in fifth place, he is 16 points behind Barnes Jr.

 

Saturday nights race is also the last regular season event prior to the new CRA Chase Championship format, which will start at Baer Field Motorsports Park on August 19th. With their victories Hudson, Barnes Jr. and Poore are the first three drivers and their car owners locked into the Chase Championship format since they competed in at least 75% of the races leading up to this Saturday’s race. Team Owners in Chase positions with Owner Points heading into Saturday include owners of the #84 Andrew Teepe, #22 James Kirby, #54 Derrick Layne and Nathan Greene, #57 Daniel Adams and #44 Colby Lane. Other teams eligible and could still possibly move into the points Chase group include #27 Josh Poore, #29 Mason Keller, #23 Thomas Skiles and #59 Cory Adams. All CRA season point awards are paid off the final Owner standings.

 

Drivers in Driver Point Chase positions heading into Saturday include the #84 Andrew Teepe, #22 James Kirby, #57 Daniel Adams, #44 Colby Lane and #27 Josh Poore. Other teams eligible and could still possibly move into the points Chase group include #29 Mason Keller, #23 Thomas Skiles and #59 Cory Adams.

 

Pit Gates open on Saturday for the CRA Teams at 10am. The first of two practice sessions is set to begin at 3:05pm for the CRA Street Stocks. Qualifying is set to begin at 5:15pm. The race program will begin at 7pm and will include the Winchester 200 for the Lawrence Towing CRA Street Stocks. Saturday’s events are part of a huge weekend of racing at Winchester that will include Modified racing on Friday, Vores Compact Tour on Friday and Saturday and the Thunder Roadsters on Friday and Saturday. The ARCA Racing Series Presented by Menards will practice and qualify on Saturday, their 200 lap feature will take place on Sunday afternoon.
