Wimmer Set for “Border Wars” and ARCA Midwest Tour Opener

Wausau, WI – The ARCA Midwest Tour kicks off its season in Toledo, Ohio with “Border Wars”. Both ARCA Midwest Tour and ARCA CRA Series cars will compete in the 7-Up 150 at Toledo Speedway on Saturday, April 20th. Even though two series will be competing, it does mark the official start of the ARCA Midwest Tour season for drivers like Chris WImmer. “With the change in sanctioning body for the Midwest Tour, I think it’s neat that they are getting together with other top ARCA sanctioned series and getting us all together to race.”

Wimmer, who finished third in Midwest Tour points last year, is anxious to get back on the track after bad luck a month ago at South Alabama Speedway. “My Preval Chevy was really good down at the Rattler last month, says Wimmer, “And I was so disappointed in how the weekend ended. I had a lot of work to do on the car to get it ready for Toledo, but it’s back together and I’m just excited to get back on the track again.”

There are already over 50 entries for the 7-Up 150 at Toledo Speedway, drawing drivers from the Midwest area as well as the South, where the ARCA CRA Series races. “When you look at the entry list for this weekend there are a lot of good cars,” says Wimmer, “It’s great to see so many cars on the entry list, but I know we will have our work cut out for us this weekend. It will definitely be a battle just to make the show.”

Toledo Speedway has an open practice session from 3pm-7pm on Friday before drivers qualify Saturday afternoon and get set for the 7-Up 150 Saturday night. “It’s been a long time since I’ve raced at Toledo Speedway,” says Wimmer, “And I’m really looking forward to going back. This will be the first time a lot of the drivers from up here have been on the track yet this year, so it’s always nice to have that extra practice day, especially at tracks where we don’t normally race.”

Fans will be able to follow along with live timing and scoring updates during practice on Friday on www.arcaracing.com and the race will also be broadcast live on the ARCA website as well.
