Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Bobby Jack’s Memorial 71 Sunday at Kil-Kare Raceway

Salem, IN (July 20, 2021) – The Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS will continue their 2021 season with the running of the Bobby Jack’s Memorial 71 this Sunday at Kil-Kare Raceway, located just outside of Xenia, Ohio. The Bobby Jack’s Memorial 71 was originally scheduled to take place at Kil-Kare in April during the 10th Annual CRA Cabin Fever Championships, but that event was cancelled because of weather. Sunday’s event will also feature racing from the Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks, the Victory Custom Trailer CRA Junior Late Models, the Vores Compact Touring Series and a Compact/FWD Enduro event. 

Jeff Marcum picked up the win in the series 2021 season opener at Anderson Speedway on April 17th, leading 74 laps of the 75-lap event. Austin Coe picked up his first series win of the 2021 season at the series second event at Mt. Lawn Speedway on May 23rd, holding off a hard charging Billy Hutson to get the close win. Cassten Everidge picked up his first ever series win in the series third event of the season on June 5th at Winchester Speedway and is now locked into the series 2021 Chase for the Championship. Defending series Champion Billy Hutson picked up the win in the series last event at Angola Motor Speedway on July 10th and is now locked into the series 2021 Chase for the Championship.   

Everidge and Hutson are locked in a tight battle for the series Regular Season Championship with Everidge leading Hutson in the series regular season points by just two points heading into Sunday’s event. Series leading rookie Kyle Worley is in third place, he is 41 points behind Hutson. J.P. Crabtree is in fourth place with Ronnie Rose in fifth place. The top three in points are all entered for Sunday’s Bobby Jack’s Memorial 71. 

Sunday’s Bobby Jack’s Memorial 71 will pit the series regular competitors against the Shadybowl Speedway Late Models with a special rules package just for this event. Sunday’s Bobby Jack’s Memorial 71 will pay $1,200 to win and will feature extra payouts for all Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman competitors from Platinum Express/Platinum Motorsports, including a $71 cash bonus to every driver competing in the event and $171 cash bonus to the events Fast Qualifier and a $171 cash bonus for a Hardcharger Award to the driver advancing the most positions in the event. The winner of the Bobby Jack’s Memorial 71 will receive a personalized memorial banner from the organizers of the Bobby Jack’s Memorial 71.

A stout field of competitors are entered to challenge the series regulars for Sunday’s Bobby Jack’s Memorial 71 including Kyle Jones, winner of the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour event at Kil-Kare on June 27th. Also, multi-time Kil-Kare Late Model Champion Justin Alsip, winner of the last Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman event at Kil-Kare in 2019. I tough group of Ohio drivers are entered including Chad Pendleton, Don Mahaffey Jr., Bill Browning, Caleb Reschar, Ryan Fleming, Bill Burda, Jason Timmerman, Brian Brewer and Robby Jacks, son of the late Bobby Jacks. 

Two-time ASA National Tour Champion Gary St. Amant will get back behind the wheel for car owners Jim and Anita Newman to race in Sunday’s Bobby Jack’s Memorial 71. St. Amant was a fixture on the ASA National Tour from 1986 through 2004, winning 21 total races. Sunday will be his first time to race since the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman event at Kil-Kare Raceway in 2019. 

On Sunday pit gates will open at 11:00am. Practice will begin at 1pm. Qualifying will begin at 3:30pm. The race program is set to begin at 5pm with the 30-lap feature for the Victory Custom Trailer CRA Junior Late Models, then the 30 lap A-Main for the Vores Compact Touring Series, followed by the $1,000 to win 50 lap Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks feature and then the Bobby Jack’s Memorial 71 for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman. The 75 lap Compact/FWD Enduro will close out the evening of racing action. 

General Admission tickets will be on sale at the gate on Sunday, adults for $15, children 6 to 12 will be $5, children 5 and under are free.
