Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Begin 2018 Season Sunday at Mt. Lawn Speedway

Salem, IN (May 23, 2018) – The Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS will kick off their 2018 season, this Sunday at Mt. Lawn Speedway, located in New Castle, IN. The series had their season opening Cabin Fever event at Lucas Oil Raceway canceled because of cold temperatures. Their second scheduled event of the season at Anderson Speedway on April 7th was rescheduled to July 28th, also because of weather.

 

2018 will be the will be the 12th season of competition for the series that crowned its first Champion in 2006. Past Champions include Keith Sterkowitz in 2016 and 2011, Billy Hutson in 2007, Tony Dager in 2008, Charlie Hanna in 2009 and 2010, K.C. Spillers in 2012 and was the 2017 Drivers Champion, Mark Lambert in 2013, Greg Van Alst in 2014, Jason Atkinson in 2015, Eddie Van Meter in 2016 and Jason Neal was the 2017 Owners Champion.

 

After a multi-year layoff, special event racing returned to Mt. Lawn in 2016, with a limited, but highly successful five race schedule. The Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman returned to race at Mt. Lawn during the 2017 season, before that the series had last raced at Mt. Lawn on June, 13th, 2010, when multi-time track Champion Eric Evans went to victory lane. Shawn Amor was the winner of last year’s 75 lap event at Mt. Lawn Speedway in his first time behind the wheel for D & R Motorsports.

 

Sunday’s race is an excellent opportunity for teams to get laps at Mt. Lawn Speedway prior to the series Triple Crown Series, which will have its first event at Mt. Lawn Speedway on Sunday, July 1st. The Triple Crown Series will feature three 100-lap, $2000 to win events, and a points fund that will pay the Triple Crown Champion $1000. There will also be 2 random draw winners for $500 each from all teams that have attended all three Triple Crown events. The other two Triple Crown Series events will be at Anderson Speedway on July 14th and at Baer Field Motorsports Park on August 4th.

 

There will be an optional open practice at Mt. Lawn Speedway on Saturday from 11an until 6pm. On Sunday, pit gates open at 1pm. Practice will begin at 3pm with qualifying beginning at 4:45pm. The race program is set to begin at 6:15pm and will include a 50 lap feature for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman. Also racing that night will be the Mt. Lawn Thunder Cars, Pro Compacts, Stock Compacts and FasKarts.
