Van Meter and Coe Score Wins at Lucas Oil Raceway Friday Night

Salem, IN (July 9, 2016) – CRA veteran racer Eddie Van Meter and teenager Austin Coe both came away

with victories at Friday night’s “Stock car nights under the lights” at Lucas Oil Raceway. This was the second

of three such programs at the historic 0.686-mile oval located in Brownsburg, Indiana, just West of

Indianapolis will have in 2016, the final one is scheduled for Friday, August 12 th .

So far this season only Van Meter and Terry Fisher Jr. have been to victory lane with the Vore’s Welding

CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS and that continued Friday night when Van Meter managed to

catch leader Shawn Amor towards the end of the 30 lap feature, making the hard earned pass to get the lead

on lap 28 to go on and get his series leading third win of the 2016 season. Amor did not let Van Meter get the

win easily, he fought back as the pair swapped the lead a couple of times on the same lap before Van Meter

was able to pull away to get the win, his second this season at Lucas Oil Raceway to go along with a win at

Anderson Speedway.

Amor would finish in second. T.J. Fisher would finish in third. Austin Coe finished in fourth in his first ever

CRA Late Model Sportsman start. Billy Van Meter would finish in fifth place after making an early pit stop.

Eddie Van Meter was the Allstar Performance Fast Qualifier. With the win Van Meter unofficially takes over

the season Championship points lead and the Lyons Truck & Trailer LOR Challenge points lead. Heat race

winners were rookie Stephen Woods and Derek Bischak.

In the May 6 th “Stock car nights under the lights” event, Austin Coe came from the tail to win that event, he

did the same on Friday night, working his way through the field on the bottom to get the lead from Colby

Lane on lap 14, then pull away for another dominating win in the race that went from green to checker. Lane

would finish in second, with Mason Keller in third place. Mark Mason also came from the tail of the field to

finish in fourth place. Rookie Zach Henderson finished in fifth place.

Series point’s leader Phil Jenkins finished in sixth place and padded his points lead when second in points

James Kirby III wrecked his car in practice and was done for the night. Heat races were won by Colby Lane

and Jacob McElfresh.

The next Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman event will be the PGG Shootout 150 this Friday, July

15 th at Anderson Speedway. That event will pay $2,500 to win, down to $225 to start. The next CRA Street

Stock event will be Saturday, July 30 th at Anderson Speedway.
