Salem, IN (June 24, 2019) – The Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS will return to action this Saturday June 29th at Baer Field Motorsports Park, in a 75 lap points event that will be a tune up for the upcoming $5,000 to win series Crown Jewel Non-points special event on July 6th at Baer Field. Both the June 29th event and the Crown Jewel event will take place on the 3/8’s mile track at Baer Field.
Saturday will be only the third event of the 2019 season for the Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks after having two events canceled because of weather, one at Lucas Oil Raceway and at Salem Speedway and three Four Crown events that have been rescheduled at Shadybowl Speedway, Mt. Lawn Speedway and most recently at Anderson Speedway because of weather.
The series opened their 2019 season at Anderson Speedway on April 13th, were Bret Miles Jr. got the victory over hard charging Brett Hudson. Chuck Barnes Jr. was the most recent winner with the Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks at the Short Track U. S. Nationals presented by Vore’s Welding at Bristol Motor Speedway on June 1st.
Hudson leads the series Championship points coming into Saturday’s event. Andrew Teepe is in second place, he is 19 points behind Hudson. Jason Atkinson is in third place, he is two points behind Teepe. McElfresh is in fourth place, he is six points behind Atkinson. J.J. Schafer is in fifth place, he is 22 points behind McElfresh.
Jake Hinton won his first ever CRA event in last years series event at Baer Field. Hinton took the lead from former ARCA/CRA Super Series and Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman event winner Terry Fisher Jr. on lap 10, then held off local Street Stock competitor Bobby Coomer to get the win. Schafer finished in third, local Frank Casagrande finished in fourth with McElfresh in fifth place.
On Saturday, pit gates open at 1pm. Practice will begin at 2:15pm with qualifying beginning at 5pm. The race program is set to begin at 7pm and will include the Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks 75 lap feature event. Also racing that night will be Non-wing Sprint cars, Baer Field Mini Stocks and FWD’s.
