Hall looking for fresh start beginning with Berlin 125 in West Michigan
Newport, Michigan (Wednesday, May 13, 2015): Two races into the 2015 racing season within the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS, Matt Hall is sitting ninth overall in the points standings and fourth in the 2015 Rookie of the Year title chase. Not a bad start at all for any driver in the ultra competitive premier series within Champion Racing Association (CRA). For Hall though, the Newport, Michigan drive expects more out of himself and the first two races to him were nothing to write home about.
In the last race back on April 26th, the Madison County Community Health Center 125 at the fast and tight 1/4 (0.250) mile high-banked paved oval of Anderson Speedway (IN), features fast and extremely tight confines for the full-size Super Late Models of ARCA/CRA. Something Hall found out in a hurry. After qualifying 11th, Hall was forced to check up early in the race and was then contacted by another car forcing Hall’s machine into the turn one wall. After extensive repairs were made, Hall did manage a 15th place finish after logging laps with a damaged machine.
“A bad qualifying effort put us in a bad position with a chance to be caught up in a wreck especially at Anderson. We were hoping to make the invert through Qualifying. We didn’t and we ended up being in the wrong place at the wrong time.” Explained the 22-year-old after the race. “We learned a lot though with it only being our second time there and we’re hoping for a better outing in the Redbud 300 in July.” He added.
After a couple of weeks off, the next race on the 2015 ARCA/CRA Super Series schedule is at the famed 7/16s (0.437) mile semi-banked paved oval of Berlin Raceway, located west of Grand Rapids in Marne, Michigan on Saturday, May 16th. The Berlin 125 is the third race of the year and like the Anderson event, serves as the lone tune-up for the JEGS/CRA $100,000 Super Late Model Triple Crown Series race there, the Battle at Berlin 251 on June 16th.
“Going into Berlin is rolling the dice for us. This is not a track I particularly like but I have been telling myself all week it’s my favorite and I can’t wait to get there.” Laughed the Great Lakes State driver as he and his Matt Hall Motorsports Team prepare for the trip across the state. “I will be looking to Kyle Jones for plenty of advice as he has been pretty good here in years past. We are looking to improve qualifying efforts and to stay towards the front and grab a good finish without being caught up in any wrecks this week.” Hall ended.
After two races in the 2015 racing season, Hall is ninth overall in points and also fourth in the rookie of the year title chase. He has a pair of top 15 finishes with his best showing coming at Toledo Speedway (OH) in the ARCA/CRA season opener, the 7-Up 100 Presented by Royal Truck & Trailer Sales back on April 11th. He earned a 13th place finish in the caution free event after starting at the rear of the field due to pulling out of impound prior to the event.
