Two Days, Two States, Two Tracks, Two Races for Mills

Huntersville, North Carolina (Wednesday, July 8, 2015): Racecar drivers are different. It doesn’t matter whether they win, finish last, or wreck during their last race, they think they can win the next one. New Philadelphia, Ohio’s Matt Mills believes Dixie Motor Speedway (Mich.) could indeed be the site of his first career JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour victory when he races there in the Dixie 100 Presented by JEGS.com this coming Friday, July 10, 2015. In addition to racing the No. 5 Rick Turner Racing Pro Late Model, he will jump behind the wheel of the No. 4 Mills Motorsports Outlaw Super Late Model at Midvale Speedway located in Midvale, Ohio on Saturday to compete in the track’s Vanmeter’s Auto Repair/Federated Auto Parts Christmas In July Night event.

Mills, the highest finishing rookie in last Saturday’s Mercy Masters of the Pros 144, enters Saturday’s race fifth in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance points standings and second in the Howie Lettow Memorial Rookie of the Year Presented by Van Doorn Racing Development points standings. The first half of his freshman campaign in the series is highlighted by a very impressive seventh-place finish at the tricky (0.333) 1/3-mile Columbus Motor Speedway (Ohio) on Memorial Day weekend.

Dixie Motor Speedway located in Birch Run, Michigan will play host to race number four in the season-long chase for JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance Championship. The fast (0.400) 4/10-mile track is one of the countries finest short tracks. The Dixie 100 Presented by JEGS.com will be a Motor City Racing Promotions event and the first JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour event at the speedway since 2013. That year, Joe Gibbs Racing Development Driver and ARCA/NASCAR driver, Cody Coughlin went to victory lane en route to winning the 2013 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Championship.

A trip to Midvale Speedway (Ohio) on Saturday, July 11, 2015, will cap off a busy weekend for Mills. Midvale Speedway (Ohio) is a (0.300) 3/10-mile track featuring eight degrees of banking in the corners. The tight quarters of the speedway result in close side-by-side action, causing lots of contact excitement for drivers and fans alike. Mills has achieved lots of success at Midvale Speedway (Ohio). Finishing fourth in his last trip to the track, as well as winning last season’s Midseason Championship are both examples of this success. Saturday’s event, Vanmeter’s Auto Repair/Federated Auto Parts Christmas In July Night, is sure to be a fan favorite and one that the 18-year-old driver believes he can win.

“I am excited about this weekend,” Mills said. “Pulling double duty this weekend; running two different tracks, two different cars and doing it in two days (Friday and Saturday) will be cool. I feel like Dixie Motor Speedway (Mich.) is going be a good track for myself and the No. 5 Rick Turner Racing team and I am confident we can have a great finish this weekend. After the Dixie 100, we will head to Midvale looking to pick up our first victory of the season in our No. 4 Mills Motorsports Outlaw Super Late Model. It will be a very busy weekend, but I am looking forward to every moment.”

Mills’ busy 2015 season will continue the following Friday, July 17, 2015, as he heads to Anderson Speedway (Ind.) for the Anderson 100 Presented by JEGS.com. The (0.250) 1/4-mile bullring is one of the most historic racetracks in the country and is home to many marquee racing events such as the Little 500 and the Redbud 300, which will take place the following day, Saturday, July 18, 2015. Every year the Stoops Freightliner Redbud 300 draws top racing talent and some of the biggest crowds in short track racing because simply put, it’s an exceptional race. The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour portion, the Anderson 100 Presented by JEGS.com will not disappoint either. It will be Mills’ first trip to the Anderson Speedway located in Anderson, Indiana. It will again be a double duty weekend for the Buckeye State teenager. He will travel to his home track Midvale Speedway the next day, Saturday July 18, 2015, and hop back into his family owned Outlaw Super Late Model to chase another win.
