Glen Ellyn, Illinois (Thursday, July 16, 2015): Fresh off of back-to-back runner-up finishes in Super Late Model competition this season, Trent Snyder is set to take a run at one of the most prestigious events in the Midwest – Anderson Speedway’s Redbud 300.
The July 18th event will pit Snyder against some of the top Super Late Model competitors from across the country, in a 300-lap contest of both endurance and patience.
“It would be huge for us to win the Redbud 300,” smiles Snyder. “It’s one of the true Crown Jewels for anyone in the Midwest. Without question it would be a career moment”
“This entry list is full of guys that are threats to win anywhere in the country. It’s pretty incredible. This has to be one of the best fields this event has seen in recent years. It’s going to be an honor to be a part of it”
Snyder recently returned to the Super Late Model ranks after a multitude of seasons spent grabbing headlines across the country in Pro Late Model competition.
His most recent outing was a heralding 2nd place performance in Rockford Speedway’s ‘All Star 100’ on June 27th.
“We have an excellent opportunity to accomplish something impactful this weekend,” explains the well-spoken veteran. “Our program has been fantastic this season – and I feel as though we are right around the corner from our first win this year”
“Our car was strong at Rockford,” continues Snyder. “We brushed the wall early on and knocked the toe in just a little bit and that ended up being the difference between a second place finish and a win. But we learned a lot in that race that should make us even better in the Redbud”
For the Illinois-based team, a trip to Anderson will carry a number of hometown elements.
“I’m just excited to be heading back to Anderson. My wife grew up just a few minutes from the track – so anytime I roll through those gates it’s a special moment for us,” says Snyder. “We’ll also have our good friend and sponsor Mitch Smith of Mitch Smith Auto Service at the track with us – and I’d love more than anything to win this for him. His business is based in Anderson and he’s been a longtime supporter of our program”
With 300-laps ahead of him, Snyder is quick to note that the race will be a marathon – not a sprint.
“It’s going to take some patience and a lot of luck. Whoever is able to keep their car under them long enough to make it to lap 250 could have a shot at the win,” explains the veteran. “We know that if we take care of our equipment, that our equipment will take care of us. And that’s our goal for this weekend.”
