Trent Snyder Battles through Contact for Runner-Up Finish at Anderson Speedway

Glen Ellyn, Illinois (Monday, April 27, 2015): Multi-time JEGS/CRA All-Star Tour winner Trent Snyder returned to Super Late Model competition with the ARCA/CRA Super Series on April 26th at Anderson Speedway with a 2nd place finish in a talent-laden field.

Snyder, a past winner at the Indiana bullring, qualified 6th after spending much of the weekend’s practice sessions near the top of the leader board. After the invert, Snyder’s No. 88 Mitch Smith Auto Service/Great Deals Savings Magazine Chevrolet rolled off from the 4th position and wasted little time advancing through the field.

“We had a great car this weekend, it was fast right off the trailer,” smiled Snyder post-race. “To get near the top of the board in practice with a new motor and old tires – in a field this talented – definitely gave us the momentum we were hoping for”

The former Pro Late Model standout snatched the lead on lap-16, and held the top spot until contact with another competitor shuffled the No. 88 back into traffic.

“Once we had made our way to the lead, I was hoping to just ride and knock off some laps,” explained Snyder. “We ended up getting hit in the left rear and lost a ton of track position in the process”

“The contact loosened the car up in a big way, and really made the second half of the race a bit of a challenge,” added the Illinois native.

Despite the handling issues, Snyder battled back to the top-3 and raced into the runner-up position mere laps from the checkered flag.

“Our car was fast at the end, we fell into a bit of a groove and it was working really well. That late-race restart went perfectly. It was awesome to get back to second, we just didn’t have enough for [eventual winner] Eddie [Van Meter] in those last few laps”

Upon clearing post-race inspection, Snyder explained that while a 2nd place finish is nothing to be ashamed of, it’s difficult not to wonder what could have happened.

“As good as the car was early on, I think we had as much of a shot at victory lane as anybody,” said Snyder. “My guys worked so hard this weekend, I would have loved to have brought them home a win”

“In a field this deep, we’ll definitely take a second place finish, though,” continued Snyder. “This was our first Super Late Model race in a long time, and we learned a ton. I’m excited to get back to the shop and see what we can change to make this car even better for Rockford [Speedway] on June 27th.”

Primary sponsor Mitch Smith of Mitch Smith Auto Service was quick to praise Snyder for his efforts.

“This was a great tune-up for the Red Bud 300,” said Smith. “Nothing more than a race of shear talent. This was our first race with Trent and the No. 88 team and he more than proved himself as a contender. All of us at Mitch Smith Auto Service could not be more proud of our second place finish this afternoon.”

Trent Snyder will return to action on June 27th when the ARCA Midwest Tour rolls into Rockford Speedway for the ‘All Star 100’. Fans can stay up to date with the team by visiting the official Trent Snyder Racing page on Facebook.
