Two-Time ARCA/CRA Super Series Champion & ARCA Racing Series Winner heading to Winchester Speedway
Wheeling, West Virginia (Thursday, September 3, 2015): As Travis Braden continues on with his 2015 racing season. His thrilling win in his ARCA Racing Series Presented by Menards debut at Lucas Oil Raceway (IN) on July 24th still lingers in the back of his mind. The victory in the Sioux Chief PowerPEX 200 Presented by Federated Car Care has been a wonderful shot in the arm for the Wheeling, West Virginia driver. Despite not chasing after a third straight ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS title, he is in a championship title hunt within the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance.
Taking over the controls of the #26 Platinum Express / Chevrolet for Bill Burba Motorsports beginning with the third race of the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour season, Braden has given the team a slew of confidence and the Owners Points Standings lead heading into the final four races of the year. The next race on the JEGS/CRA schedule comes at a track where the 21-year-old has claimed three victories with two of those coming in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour; The legendary 1/2 (0.500) mile high-banked paved oval of Winchester Speedway (IN).
“Obviously I think we have high expectations for this weekend. The Platinum Motorsports team and I have really started to click as of late, and our first victory is long past due.” Offered Braden as he prepares for the Winchester 100 Presented by JEGS.com on Sunday, September 6th. “Our last race at Auto City (Speedway on August 8th) looked like we would sail home to an easy victory before some very unfortunate circumstances brought our night to a halt. I think the Platinum Motorsports team and I will prove to be the winning combination this weekend barring circumstances out of our control. I would love to give them their first-ever CRA win in one of the biggest race events of the year.” He added.
“I’m looking at Winchester as a must-win situation. We have shown we have a car capable of winning each week, and now it’s time to put it on the scoring pylon.” Continued the West Virginia University engineering student. “Winchester has always been a great track of mine. In my first start at the track, and only my second start in the JEGS series, in 2011, we brought home the improbable win. Since then we have been almost perfect in the JEGS races that we’ve run, and we’ve been a huge threat for the past few Winchester 400s.”
Since taking over the controls of the #26 machine which was driven in the first two events by veteran, Mike Stacy, Braden has acquired three top five finishes including a strong second place showing at Berlin Raceway (MI) on August 1st. In his five starts, all of those have resulted in at least a top 10 finish and he also scored a Fast Qualifier award, which came at Auto City on August 8th. While the Bill Burba owned team is leading the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Owners Points Standings, Braden himself is actually eighth in the Drivers Points chase.
Over the past two and a half seasons of ARCA/CRA Super Series competition, Braden has put up some impressive numbers. He has six trips to victory lane including four in 2013 and two in 2014. During the 2014 racing season, Braden accumulated an impressive string of 11 consecutive top five finishes to close out the year en route to repeating as the ARCA/CRA Super Series Champion. In 46 career ARCA/CRA Super Series starts, he has six wins, 24 top fives, 28 top 10 showings and five fast qualifier awards. In addition, in eight JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour starts, Braden has collected three wins, six top fives and all eight starts have resulted in at least a top 10 finish.
