Toyota Kalamazoo Klash XXV Featuring Kyle Busch up Next for ARCA/CRA Super Series

Salem, IN (August 7, 2017) – The ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS will head back to Michigan for the annual Kalamazoo Klash 125, this Wednesday, August 9th as part of the Toyota Kalamazoo Klash XXV Featuring Kyle Busch at the famed Kalamazoo Speedway, located just outside Kalamazoo, Michigan. The Kalamazoo Klash is one of the top Outlaw Super Late Model events in the nation held each year at Kalamazoo, this will be the ARCA/CRA Super Series fourth time being a part of this huge event. To date there are 27 CRA teams entered for Wednesday night’s event.

 

This will be the seventh series event at Kalamazoo Speedway, Fred Campbell got the win in the first ever series event held there in 2002, Andy Ponstein got the win in 2005 and Brian Campbell got the win in the series event in 2006. NASCAR Star Kyle Busch got the win in the inaugural CRA Kalamazoo Klash 125 event after a tough battle with three time ARCA/CRA Super Series Champion Johnny VanDoorn. Ali Kern came away with the win in 2015’s event, getting her first ever ARCA/CRA Super Series victory. Campbell went back to victory lane last year over NASCAR competitor and inaugural JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Champion Erik Jones.

 

NASCAR Star Kyle Busch is entered to compete in both the ARCA/CRA Super Series 125 lap event and the Kalamazoo Klash XXV 125 lap event. The 2014 event was the last time Busch went to victory lane with the series, as he looks to become the first driver to win two ARCA/CRA Super Series Kalamazoo Klash 125’s, and the first driver to win both Kalamazoo Klash features in the same night.

 

Busch will have plenty of competition with Campbell entered looking to defend last season’s win and add to the 22 all-time series victories he has. Campbell has one series victory so far in 2017, which was at Toledo Speedway and picked up a JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour win at Berlin Raceway on July 15th.

 

Two time series Champion Travis Braden is entered to try and get his third series win in a row after getting wins at Lucas Oil Raceway on July 21st and at the series last event on July 30th at Kil-Kare Raceway.

 

VanDoorn is also entered looking for his first ever ARCA/CRA Super Series Kalamazoo Klash 125 victory, he has two series wins this season, at Anderson Speedway and at Baer Field Motorsports Park.

 

Series Championship points and Senneker Performance Rookie of the Year point’s leader Josh Brock is entered to compete in his first ever event at Kalamazoo Speedway as is second in both points Hunter Jack. Fellow Rookie Logan Runton, third in points and Dalton Armstrong fourth in points are also both entered.

 

Other top CRA drivers entered include three time series Champion and series all-time victory leader Scott Hantz, 2014 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Champion Dan Leeck, Wes Griffith Jr., rookie Kyle Crump, Florida native Steve Dorer, Boris Jurkovic, Thomas Woodin and Trever McCoy. Current JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Championship and Rookie points’ leader 14 year old Carson Hocevar is entered to make his ARCA/CRA Super Series debut.

 

There are several drivers from the Kalamazoo/Berlin area entered, many of whom compete at Kalamazoo or in the Berlin Raceway Late Models and in selected CRA events including Phil Bozell, Buddy Head, Jerry Andrews, Tyler Hufford, Jordan Dahlke, Ken Wobma and 14 year old Evan Shotko.

 

David Gilliland Racing has entered Canadian Rapheal Lessard and Mississippi racer Chase Purdy for Wednesday’s event. Lessard was the 2016 CARS Super Late Model Tour Champion and has competed in selected ARCA Racing Series events in 2017. Purdy has competed in select ARCA Racing Series events in 2017 and in the NASCAR K & N Pro East Series where he is third in series points and has four poles.

 

14 year old New York racer Eddie Fatscher is entered to make his ARCA/CRA Super Series debut Wednesday for Fat Head Racing. Fatscher led 16 laps of the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Bristol Motor Speedway event in May.

 

There will be an open practice on Tuesday, August 8th, pit gates open at 4:30pm with practice going from 5:30 to 8:30pm. On Wednesday pit gates will open at 11am. Practice will begin at 1:30pm, with qualifying at 3:50pm. There will be an Autograph Session with all the drivers competing Wednesday night at 5:30pm. The race program will begin at 7pm and will include the Kalamazoo Klash 125 for the ARCA/CRA Super Series. The Kalamazoo Klash XXIV will follow the ARCA/CRA Super Series race.
