Huntersville, North Carolina (Monday, July 27, 2015): Unfortunately, every good dream eventually has an end. For ARCA/CRA Super Series standout, Hunter Baize, what looked like another top-five effort quickly turned into the end of his “good dream,” when his No. 13 Mountaineer All-Natural Firewood Super Late Model lost power. Despite the on-track issues, however, the Bremen, Kentucky native leaves Lucas Oil Raceway only losing a few points to the leader in both the overall and rookie ARCA/CRA Super Series points standings.
Coming off a very impressive third-place finish in the Stoops Freightliner Redbud 300, Baize, and his No. 13 Hunter Baize Racing team looked to continue their phenomenal season. In practice, they showed speed. Baize qualified 14th. When the green flag dropped over the 29-car ARCA/CRA Super Series field, the 17-year-old hot shoe began working his way forward. Midway through the 100-lap, Circle City 100 Presented by Greg Hubler Chevrolet, the No. 13 Mountaineer All-Natural Firewood Super Late Model lost power. Baize pitted, and his crew went to work, changing the battery quickly. Despite the quick work by his crew, Baize was mired many laps down. He went on to finish 21st.
“I’m disappointed with the result we ended up with in the Circle City 100, especially considering we had what I believed to be a top 5 car,” Baize said. “I am, however, extremely proud of my VRD crew for getting the battery changed so quickly, allowing us to finish the race.”
Next up for Baize, who remains second in both overall and rookie ARCA/CRA Super Series points standings, is a trip to his adopted home track, Berlin Raceway (Mich.) for his ARCA Racing Series debut. The Bluegrass State teenager will pilot the No. 52 Federated Auto Parts car for NASCAR legend and owner of Ken Schrader Racing, Ken Schrader. Ken Schrader Racing, the same team that Ross Kenseth son of Matt Kenseth won with at Michigan International Speedway (Mich.) earlier this year, is based out of Concord, N.C. Baize will be sponsored by Federated Auto Parts, Mountaineer All-Natural Firewood, and a host of other great companies to be announced soon. He will continue his chase for the ARCA/CRA Super Series Championship on August 12, 2015, at Kalamazoo Speedway located in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
This season Baize’s Van Doorn Racing Development Pro and Super Late Model race cars will carry sponsorship from Mountaineer All-Natural Firewood, B&K Wood Products, Kawasaki, Wood-Mizer, and Steel City Bolt.
