Top-Five Effort for Mills at Midvale

Huntersville, North Carolina (Tuesday, June 30, 2015): For the first time in what feels like months, Matt Mills was able to climb behind the wheel of his family owned No. 4 Outlaw Super Late Model, and compete at Midvale Speedway (Ohio). Not only did Mills compete on Saturday at his home track, but he showed once again that he deserves every opportunity he is being presented with this season.

Mills was fast from the beginning of the day. He backed his practice times up with a second-place qualifying effort. Following the invert, he started sixth in the feature. Starting sixth made traffic an issue for the 18-year-old Ohio native. He was able to race his way up to a very solid fourth-place finish.

“The car was fast once again until we had carb problems in the heat race, so we went to our backup carb,” Mills said. “When the race started, we couldn’t get the outside groove to go at all and it almost felt like I had too much rear brake in the car. I dialed front brake into it during a caution but then it felt like I had no rear brakes. Towards the end of the race, I was pumping the brakes going into the corners, so we obviously had a brake issue. Considering the issues that we were experiencing it was a successful night. I’m ready for a new month. Hopefully, we can turn our luck around and get back to victory lane.

Mills will step out of the seat of the No. 4 Mills Motorsports Outlaw Super Late Model for the next several weeks, as he shifts his focus to the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance. Three races in three weeks will highlight the month of July for the Buckeye State teenager. Next weekend, Saturday, July 4, 2015, Mills and his Rick Turner Racing team will travel to Lebanon, Mo., and the (0.375) 3/8-mile I-44 Speedway for the Mercy Masters of the Pros 144. The 144-lap event is one of the largest Pro Late Model events in the country. A trip to Birch Run, Mich., and the Dixie Motor Speedway on Friday, July 10, 2015, followed by a trip to the fast (0.250) ¼-mile Anderson Speedway in Anderson, Ind., will end a very busy three-week stretch for Mills.
This season the No. 4 Mills Motorsports Outlaw Super Late Model will carry sponsorship from Thompson Electric Inc., DTS Screen Printing Embroidery, Kwest Group, Frontier Tool & Equipment Rental, Riddle Trucking, Sunshine Signs & Decals, Bleininger Family & Truck Repair, Bombs Away Bar & Grill, Pringles Body Shop, Bee Fit with Denise, Swan Fabrication, and Racecar Engineering.
