Tight Point Races Resume This Weekend for CRA Late Model Sportsman and CRA Street Stocks at Labor Day Weekend World Stock Car Festival

Event Information

Salem, Indiana (Wednesday, September 2, 2015): Champion Racing Association Powered by JEGS will be taking on the famous High Banks of historic Winchester Speedway this weekend, September 5th, 6th and 7th with the Labor Day Weekend World Stock Car Festival, one of the biggest stock car events held each year in Central Indiana. The weekend will feature exciting racing action from the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS, JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance, Broaster Chicken ICAR Top Speed Modifieds, Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman, Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stocks and the Vores Touring Compacts. Camping will be available all weekend and there will also be the annual Sunday night party in the pavilion featuring live music.

 

Monday’s event will be the seventh point’s race of the season for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman, and the first of two series events at Winchester Speedway in 2015. To date the series has had six different winners in its six series point events so far in 2015. The series only has three series point events left in the season, the two at Winchester and one at Lucas Oil Raceway with the Fall Brawl on September 26th and 27th. The Lucas Oil Raceway Stock Car Series will conclude with its final pints event on October 18th.

 

2014 series Champion Greg Van Alst is the current point’s leader and has one victory so far this season, which came at Anderson Speedway on July 17th. Van Alst has a slim nine point lead over Jason Atkinson, who has one series victory this year at Lucas Oil Raceway on May 8th. 2014 series Rookie of the Year Jack Dossey III has now moved into third place in points, he is 18 points behind Atkinson, and has one victory with the series at Anderson Speedway on May 2nd. Dossey is currently leading the points in the MEP Late Models at Anderson Speedway, looking to win his second straight track Championship there. J.P. Crabtree and top series rookie competitor Matthew Parsons are tied for fourth, they are just one point behind Dossey.

 

Other series winners in 2015 include Scott Tomasik at Anderson Speedway on June 13th and Terry Fisher Jr., who picked up a victory on July 3rd at Lucas Oil Raceway. Shawn Amor has one series victory in the Lucas Oil Raceway Stock Car Series season opener on April 24th.

 

Monday’s event will be the ninth race of the season for the Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stocks, and the first of two at Winchester Speedway in 2015. There have been seven different winners in the eight series point events held so far this season. The series only has three point events left in the season, the two at Winchester and one at Lucas Oil Raceway with the Fall Brawl on September 26th and 27th. The Lucas Oil Raceway Stock Car Series will conclude with its final point’s event on October 18th.

 

With his win at the series last event on August 8th at Anderson Speedway, Josh Poore has now taken over the series points lead after Jason Atkinson’s streak of bad luck continued after being involved in a wreck that ended his day on lap 40. The victory was Poore’s first of the season, he is also the current points leader with the Anderson Speedway Street Stocks.

 

Atkinson, the 2105 CRA Triple Crown Series Champion, is now 19 points behind Poore, he has two victories so far this season, both at Anderson Speedway, one on June 13th and the Triple Crown 200 event on June 27th. Jake McElfresh is in third place in series points, he is only one point behind Atkinson. Colby Lane is in fourth place, he is 24 points behind McElfresh. Lane picked up his first ever series victory in the Triple Crown 200 lap event at Shady Bowl Speedway on April 18th and won the season opening Lucas Oil Raceway Stock Car Series CRA Street Stock event on April 24th.  Mason Keller is in fifth place, 12 points behind Lane. Keller picked up his first ever series win in the Triple Crown 200 lap event at Kentucky Motor Speedway on May 24th.

 

Other CRA Street Stock winners in 2015 include Robert Amos Jr. in the series event at Anderson Speedway on May 9th, 2012 series Champion Jimmy Kirby at Lucas Oil Raceway on July 3rd and Chuck Barnes Jr. in the 125 lap series event at Lucas Oil Raceway on July 31st.

 

There will be an open practice for all divisions on Saturday, pits open at 10am, and rotating practice will go from 1pm until 5pm. There will be security at the track all weekend so teams can leave their equipment in the track. Pits open on Sunday at 8am, practice will begin at 10am with qualifying starting at 3pm. Racing action on Sunday will begin at 5pm and will include heat races for the Broaster Chicken ICAR Top Speed Modifieds, Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman, Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stocks and the Vores Touring Compacts. The Winchester 100 Presented by JEGS.com for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour will be the first feature of the night and will be followed by a 20 lap feature for the Vores Touring Compacts. The traditional Sunday night party will begin after the racing is completed.

 

Pits open on Monday at 10am. Any last chance races will be ran starting at 12:30pm. The first of four feature events will start at 1pm with the 40 lap Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman feature that will be followed by the 100 lap ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS feature, the 40 lap Broaster Chicken ICAR Top Speed Modifieds feature, with the 40 lap Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stocks feature ending the day.
