The Tom Wood Honda 150 Four Crown Event Up Next for the Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks

Salem, IN (June 23, 2021) – The Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS will be back in action this Saturday in the Tom Wood Honda 150 Presented by Vore’s Welding & Steel at Anderson Speedway, located in Anderson, IN. Saturday’s event will be the second of four series events at Anderson Speedway during the 2021 season. 

Saturday’s Tom Wood Honda 150 will be the third Four Crown event of the season for the series. Jason Atkinson won the first Four Crown event of the season on May 1st at Shadybowl Speedway and the second Four Crown event at Winchester Speedway on June 5th. The Four Crown Series Championship event will be at Anderson Speedway on Saturday, August 14th.

The CRA Street Stock Four Crown series began in 2014 as a three-race mini-series and has taken many iterations in its history. Jason Atkinson has won the Four Crown title four times, with those championships coming in 2015, 2016, 2019 and 2020. Chuck Barnes Jr. and Jacob McElfresh have also claimed titles.

In addition to the $3000 minimum to win for each event, there will be a Points Champion from the four events who will receive a $1000 bonus. Second in points will receive a $600 bonus, third place a $400 bonus, then there will be two $250 bonuses from a random draw from the cars that attended all four events. Each of the Four Crown Series events will be 4 tire races, all four will have a halfway break to add fuel and make adjustments. Each Four Crown event winner and the overall Champion will receive a specially designed buckle from Crumrine Buckle Manufacturing.

Saturday’s event will be the seventh event of the season for the Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks. Jason Atkinson got the win in the series season points opener on April 17th at Anderson Speedway. Chuck Barnes Sr. won a special non-points series event at Salem Speedway on April 25th. Atkinson got the win in the Four Crown event at Shadybowl Speedway on May 1st. Chuck Barnes Jr. picked up the win in the series event at Salem Speedway on May 15th. Atkinson won the Four Crown event at Winchester on June 5th, then won his series leading fourth event of the season in the series last event at Mt. Lawn Speedway on June 13th

With his four wins and a second in the series three point events this season, Atkinson comes into Saturday night’s event as the series season points leader. Andrew Teepe is in second place, he is 31 points behind Atkinson. Jordan Hahn is in third place, he is 75 points behind Teepe. Leading series rookie Dawson Phillips is in fourth place, he is 63 points behind Hahn. Rookie Kimmie Grieg is in fifth place, she is 11 points behind Phillips. All the top five in points are entered for Saturday’s event. Atkinson won the event in 2015 and 2016. 

Atkinson is also currently leading the Four Crown points. Teepe is in second, he is 11 points behind Atkinson. Chad Pendleton is in third place, he is five points behind Teepe. Alan Williams Jr. is in fourth place, he is 10 points behind Pendleton. Ryan Amonett is in fifth place, he is two points behind Williams Jr. Both Williams Jr. and Pendleton are also entered for Saturday night. 

Other top drivers entered for Saturday’s Tom Wood Honda 150 includes 2020, 2019 and 2017 event winner Brett Hudson, 2018 event winner Josh Poore, multi-time series and Four Crown event winner Chuck Barnes Jr., Jake McElfresh, Brian Hopkins, Dale Harper, Mark Eads Jr., Blaine Akin, Royce Harmon, James Wayne, Frankie Oakes, Matt Barnes, Larry Lathan, Joe Muldoon and Jason Drummond.

There will be an optional open practice at Anderson Speedway this Friday from 4:30 to 7:30pm. On Saturday, pit gates open at 3pm. Practice will begin at 4:30pm with qualifying beginning at 5:45pm. The race program is set to begin at 7:30pm and will include the Tom Wood Honda 150 for the Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks. Also racing that night will be the Vore’s Compact Touring Series and Legends.
