Salem, IN (July 12, 2020) – Indianapolis, Indiana native Andrew Teepe picked up his first ever Triple Crown win with the JEGS Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS Saturday night at the Indianapolis Speedrome after sitting through a three hour delay for weather. Teepe was not the first car across the finish line, but first place finisher Jordan Hahn and second place finisher Troy Phillips did not pass post-race tech giving the third place Teepe the win in the 150-lap event.
“Wow I wasn’t expecting this,” remarked Teepe. “I would have rather won this race on the track, but we did what we needed to do to finish in a spot that put us in the position to get the win. I have lost a race before on a tech infraction, now I’ve won one the same way. It’s great to win here at the Speedrome, a place that means a lot to my family. I want to thank my family for all their support, especially my dad for all the hard work and helping me get here!”
Teepe started in the sixth position but got shuffled back in the running order and used a strategy of saving his tires for the end in the 150 lap four tire event. That strategy paid off with Teepe making a late run through the field to be in position to grab the win. Teepe received the AR Bodies Cool Move of the Race Award for his strategy.
Alan Williams Jr. came from is 14th place starting position to finish in second, his best finish to date in a series event. For his efforts in racing hard to the front, Williams was awarded the KRJ Race Products Sweet Move of the Race Award.
Ryan Amonett finished in third place. Jason Atkinson charged through the field after being involved in two yellow flags to finish in fourth place. J.J. Schafer came back from a flat tire to finish in fifth place. Royce Harmon finished in sixth place in his series debut. Alex Ware finished in seventh, Larry Hahn in eighth, Thomas Skiles in ninth and series rookie Brandon Roberts rounded out the top ten. Marcus Elliott was the Allstar Performance Fast Qualifier of the 24 cars on hand for the event.
The Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks next event will be the second150 lap Four Crown event of the season at Shadybowl Speedway on Saturday, July 25th. More information on all the CRA Series can be found at www.cra-racing.com.
