Salem, IN (September 15, 2016) – CRA officials have announced that the Hoosier D800 will be an eligible tire for use in the final two races of the season for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS. Those events include the Fall Brawl event on September 25th at Lucas Oil Raceway and the Season Championship event during the Winchester 400 Weekend at Winchester Speedway on October 8th.
Multiple reasons were cited for the addition of the Hoosier D800. Tire selection could potentially be a problem for the Hoosier 970* for some teams, and that would not be the case for the D800. Also, with the strong likelihood that CRA would be going to the D800 next year for the Late Model Sportsman, teams that want to purchase new tires will have the option to buy what will likely be the CRA tire next year.
From a competitive standpoint, the 970* and D800 tires have been run multiple places against each other and each have been competitively equal and won races. The advantage of the D800 is that it wears better and is better suited for multiple race usage. According to Hoosier, their experience with other racers have been that teams can even mix and match the D800’s and 970*’s.
All NEW D800’s for use in the final two Late Model Sportsman races need to be purchased from the official CRA Tire Dealer, Motion Motors. They can be reached at 765-533-4849 and will also have tires at the track. Racers with USED D800’s are encouraged to participate as long as they buy any NEW D800’s they need from Motion Motors. For those that are more comfortable and familiar with the 970* and want to continue to use them, those tires will still be available through Motion Motors.
