Summit City 100 at Baer Field Motorsports Park up Next for the ARCA/CRA Super Series

Salem, IN (July 24, 2019) – The ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS will continue its 23rd  season of competition on the fast 1/2 mile semi-banked paved oval of Baer Field Motorsports Park located in Fort Wayne, Indiana, this Saturday, July 27th for the running of the Summit City 100.

 

There have been 18 ARCA/CRA Super Series races at Baer Field dating back to the first race on June 26th, 1999 won by two-time Series Champion, Brian Ross. Three-time Series Champion Scott Hantz has five of his 31 career wins at Baer Field Motorsports Park, while Eddie Hoffman, Johnny VanDoorn and last year’s winner Brian Campbell have been to victory lane twice. In addition to Ross, Fort Wayne’s own Larry Zent and Canadian great Junior Hanley have a win apiece. 2005 Series Champion Jeff Lane, 2004 Series Champion Chuck Barnes Jr., J.R. Roahrig, 2015 Series Champion Grant Quinlan and 2016 series Champion Cody Coughlin also have one win apiece.

 

Three Time series Champion VanDoorn and 2016 series Champion Coughlin are the only former series Baer Field winners currently entered for Saturday night’s race. VanDoorn is coming off a big win in the series last event, the Redbud 400 on July 15th at Anderson Speedway. With that win VanDoorn is now in third place on the series all-time wins list with 23 victories. Coughlin spent the last three seasons competing in the NASCAR Gander Mountain Truck Series but is now racing late models again in selected events with CRA.

 

2017 series Champion Brock comes into Saturday’s event as the series points leader, besides Brock’s big win in Nashville, he has three other top five finishes in the series events so far this season including a fifth-place finish at the series Anderson Speedway season opener and the Redbud 400 and a fourth-place finish at the series Bristol Motor Speedway event. Brock is locked into the series 2019 Chase for the Championship with his win at Nashville, as long as he competes in 70% of the races leading up to the Chase for the Championship.

 

Hunter Jack comes into Saturday’s event second in points, he is 102 points behind Brock. Dossey III is third in points, he is 18 points behind Jack and with his victory at the Anderson season opener, he is also locked into the series 2019 Chase for the Championship. Greg Van Alst is fourth in series points, he is 14 points behind Dossey III. 2017 series Champion Logan Runyon is fifth in points, he is eight points behind Van Alst. Austin Kunert and VanDoorn are tied for sixth in points, they are 14 points behind Runyon. All the top seven in points are entered for the Summit City 100 at Baer Field Motorsports Park.

 

Other top CRA drivers entered for Saturday’s event include Kyle Crump, Scotty Tomasik, Florida native and multi-time CRA winner Steve Dorer, Kyle Jones, Cassten Everidge and JEGS/CRA All-Star Tour competitors Jonathan Martin and James Krueger.

 

Illinois veteran racer John Nutley is entered to make his 2019 series debut. Tanner Jack, younger brother of Hunter Jack, is entered to make his 2019 series debut. He made his first series start in this event last season.

 

There will be an open practice at Baer Field Motorsports Park this Friday, pits open at 2pm and practice will run from 3pm until 8pm. Pits open on Saturday at 12noon. Practice will begin at 2:15pm with qualifying starting at 4pm. The race program will begin at 7pm on Saturday and will include the Summit City 100 for the ARCA/CRA Super Series. Also, in action will be the Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models, the Baer Field Modifieds, Mini Stocks and FWD’s. There will also be an on track autograph session with all divisions prior to the ARCA/CRA Super Series feature.
