Stellar Field of ARCA/CRA Super Series Entries Received for Labor Day Weekend World Stock Car Festival

Several Teams Tuning Up for the Winchester 400

 

Salem, Indiana (Thursday, August 27, 2015) – Champion Racing Association Powered by JEGS will be taking on the famous High Banks of historic Winchester Speedway next weekend, September 5th, 6th and 7th with the Labor Day Weekend World Stock Car Festival, one of the biggest stock car events held each year in Central Indiana. The weekend will feature exciting racing action from the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS, JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance, Broaster Chicken ICAR Top Speed Modifieds, Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman, Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stocks and the Vores Touring Compacts. Camping will be available all weekend and there will also be the annual Sunday night party in the pavilion featuring live music.

 

The ARCA/CRA Super Series has had 41 events to date at Winchester Speedway. Three time ARCA/CRA Super Series Champion Johnny VanDoorn is the series all-time winner at Winchester Speedway with five wins. A stellar field of 28 entries have already been received for the Winchester 100 ARCA/CRA Super Series event that will be held on Monday afternoon, September 7th. This event will be used by most of those entries as a tune up for the prestigious 44th Annual Winchester 400, which will be held on Sunday, October 11th.

 

The best of the ARCA/CRA Super Series and several of the best Super Late Model drivers from around the country are included in the entries to date. 2013 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Champion Cody Coughlin picked up his first ever series win in this event last year, holding off series veteran and former event winner Rick Turner to get that victory. Both Coughlin and Turner, the series all-time starts leader, are entered for this years Labor Day event.

 

Other top CRA drivers entered include current series Championship and Senneker Performance Rookie point’s leader Grant Quinlan, who picked up his first series victory at the series last event at Baer Field Speedway last Saturday night. Also entered is fellow rookie Hunter Baize, who is second in series points, Baize picked up his second victory of the season on August 15th at Flat Rock Speedway, to go along with his Memorial Day victory at Illiana Motor Speedway. Eddie Van Meter, third in series points, is also entered, Van Meter picked up a series win at Anderson Speedway in April.

 

Other top CRA regulars entered include 2014 series Rookie of the Year Wes Griffith Jr., rookies Matt Hall, and Mark Lambert, along with 2013 series Rookie of the Year Ali Kern, who picked up her first series win on August 12th at Kalamazoo Speedway. 2014 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Champion Dan Leeck is also entered. Leeck got a series high second place finish in the August 15th series event at Flat Rock, and picked up his first JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour victory at Dixie Motor Speedway in July.

 

Three time series Champion Scott Hantz, who is tied with former two time series Champion Brian Ross and Bull Baker for second most series wins at Winchester with three apiece including the 2006 Winchester 400, is entered for the Labor Day event. Several part-time series drivers are also entered including former series Winchester winner Tommy St. John, 2014 Kil-Kare Speedway series winner Brandon Oakley, two time series winner Terry Fisher Jr. and five time JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour winner Trent Snyder, two of Snyder’s victories came at Winchester. Former JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Lucas Oil Raceway winner Dominique Van Wieringen is entered in a NEMCO Motorsports car. 2014 Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Rookie of the Year Jack Dossey III is also entered.

 

Former two-time series Labor Day event winner Jeff Fultz and 2012 Winchester 400 winner Ross Kenseth, son of NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion Matt Kenseth, top the list of drivers from around the country entered to get ready for the Winchester 400, both those drivers now reside in North Carolina.  Fellow North Carolina resident Daniel Hemric is also entered. The 2012 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Champion is competing full-time in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2015 and has a couple of series wins including last year’s Redbud 300 at Anderson Speedway, but is still seeking his first victory at Winchester.

 

The fourth North Carolina resident entered is 14 year old Harrison Burton, son of former NASCAR great Jeff Burton, who is now on the NASCAR NBC television broadcast team. Burton lead 31 laps of the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour event with the Winchester 400 Weekend last year, before hitting the wall hard after getting in fluid that was spilled on the track ending his night. Burton got a Super Late Model victory at New Smyrna Speedway during Speedweeks, and won a Southern Super Series event at Mobile International Speedway in May.

 

Other top drivers from around the country entered includes Oklahoma’s Donnie Wilson, winner of the Southern Super Series event at Mobile last Saturday night, Florida racers Dalton Sargeant and Stephen Nasse, Alabama’s Bret Holmes and Georgia hot shoe Spencer Davis. Michigan’s Jon Beach and Ohio’s Mike Stacy are also entered.

 

There will be an open practice for all divisions on Saturday, pits open at 10am, and rotating practice will go from 1pm until 5pm. There will be security at the track all weekend so teams can leave their equipment in the track. Pits open on Sunday at 8am, practice will begin at 10am with qualifying starting at 3pm. Racing action on Sunday will begin at 5pm and will include heat races for the Broaster Chicken ICAR Top Speed Modifieds, Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman, Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stocks and the Vores Touring Compacts. The Winchester 100 Presented by JEGS.com for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour will be the first feature of the night and will be followed by a 20 lap feature for the Vores Touring Compacts. The traditional Sunday night party will begin after the racing is completed.

 

Pits open on Monday at 10am. Any last chance races will be ran starting at 12:30pm. The first of four feature events will start at 1pm with the 40 lap Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman feature that will be followed by the 100 lap ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS feature, the 40 lap Broaster Chicken ICAR Top Speed Modifieds feature, with the 40 lap Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stocks feature ending the day.
