Salem, IN (April 19, 2017) – The ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS will head to Toledo Speedway, located in Toledo, Ohio, for this weekend’s Spring 200 event, which will also include racing action from the ARCA Super 6 Gold Cup Outlaw Late Models. Saturday’s series event will be the second event of the 21st season of competition for the ARCA/CRA Super Series, which opened its 2017 season at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville, as part of the North/South Super Late Model Challenge, where Georgia racer Casey Roderick came away with the victory.
Topping the list of entries to date is defending event winner and 2016 ARCA/CRA Super Series Champion Cody Coughlin. Last year’s event victory was the first of three series victories in a row for Coughlin, who ended the season with a series high four wins in 2016. Saturday’s event will be Coughlin’s first late model start of the season, as he is running a partial late model schedule in 2017 around his full schedule with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Coughlin is competing for Thorsport Racing with the Truck Series and has already raced at Daytona International Speedway, Atlanta Motor Speedway and Martinsville Speedway so far in 2017.
2014 and 2015 event winner Brian Campbell is also entered. Campbell is now third in series all time victories with 20 after getting three series wins in 2016. Also entered is 2013 event winner Johnny VanDoorn, the three time series Champion will be behind the wheel of the TK Racing #71 on Saturday.
2013 and 2014 series Champion Travis Braden is also entered, he is currently the second highest is CRA points that will be attending Saturday’s event after fourth place finish at Nashville. 2016 series Senneker Performance Rookie of the Year Dalton Armstrong is entered. Armstrong is looking to win the 2017 series Championship, he is coming off a seventh place finish at Nashville. Armstrong will have a very familiar face to Toledo fans as a teammate this weekend, Terry Senneker Jr., one of the top Outlaw Late Model drivers and car builders in the Midwest, will jump behind the wheel of a second Scott Neal Racing car for this weekend’s race.
Steven Wallace, son of NASCAR legend Rusty Wallace, is entered. The former NASCAR competitor will be making his series 2017 debut, and will race in several big late model events during the 2017 season. 2016 Snowball Derby winner Christian Eckes is also now entered. Eckes will be running a partial schedule with the ARCA Racing Series Presented by Menards and will use this weekend’s race to get laps at Toledo before returning for the ARCA Racing event at that track on May 21st.
Part-time CRA competitor Chad Finley is entered. Finley scored his first ever ARCA Racing Series victory at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville on April 8th. Minnesota racer Joey Miller is also entered. Miller is a former ARCA Racing Series winner and a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series competitor and is possibly looking to make a run for the 2017 series Championship. California racer Tyler Ankrum is also entered to get some experience at Toledo Speedway.
Other top CRA competitors entered include Wes Griffith Jr., Rick Turner, Joey Mucciacciaro, Austin Kunert and a strong group of Senneker Performance Rookie of the Year candidates lead by Josh Brock, who is the top driver entered in 2017 points after scoring a fifth place finish in Nashville in his series debut. Other top Rookies entered include Logan Runyon, Hunter Jack, Cassten Everidge and Kyle Crump who will be making his series debut for car owners Stan and Judi Rosen.
There are two Canadian racers entered, veteran Jerry Aruso and Martin Latulippe. Local competitor Tommy O’Leary IV is entered to make his CRA debut on Saturday.
Activities will begin at Toledo Speedway with an Open Practice on Friday, pits will open at 11am with hauler parking. Tech will open at 1pm. Rotating Open Practice will go from 3 to 7pm.
Pit Gates open on Saturday at 8am, ARCA/CRA Super Series practice will go from 10 to 11am. ARCA Super 6 Gold Cup Outlaw Late Models practice will go from 11am until 12 noon. Qualifying will begin at 1pm, for both groups. There will be an on track Autograph Session with all the drivers following qualifying. The Spring 200 is set to begin at 3pm with the 100 lap feature for the ARCA/CRA Super Series, followed by the ARCA Super 6 Gold Cup Outlaw Late Models 100 lap feature.
