Speed51 Super Select SLM All-Star Race Format Announced

The Speed51 Super Select Super Late Model All-Star Race at Lucas Oil Raceway (IN) on September 8 is shaping up to be something special.  For a special race, it only makes sense to use a special and unique format to help determine the winner of the $10,000 winner-take-all contest.

Race officials have announced that the 75-lap, no-holds-barred event will be broken into three 25-lap segments with inverts after the first two segments.

At the conclusion of the RGS Products Inc. first segment, the top 12 finishers will be inverted for the second segment.  After the conclusion of the second segment, the starting lineup for the final segment will be determined by each racer’s average finish in the first two segments.  From there, racers will battle it out to the checkered flag for $10,000.

The starting lineup for the first segment of the Speed51 Super Select will be determined by time trial results.  A qualifying race for those who don’t receive an invite to compete in the race will also be held.  “The Open” qualifying race will be a 30-lap race with at least the top two finishers transferring into the main event.  Those who transfer into the main event through “The Open” will start at the rear of the field behind those who received invites to be included in the “Select Team.”

Entry forms for “The Open” can now be downloaded now by clicking here.

A stout field of Super Late Model racers from all over North America will be competing in the inaugural Speed51 Super Select.  The full list of 20 drivers who have already accepted their invite can be found by clicking here.

The Speed51 Super Select will be hosted by Track Enterprises and sanctioned by the Champion Racing Association (CRA).  A pair of 75-lap features will be contested that evening, one for the Super Late Models and another for the USAC Silver Crown Series.
