Sealed Engine Alliance Leaders (S.E.A.L.) Removes Builder from Approved List

Jimmy Cope Racing Engines Florida Spec Engines No Longer Allowed in Super Late Competition Sealed Engine

Alliance Leaders (S.E.A.L.) announced today, that Jimmy Cope Racing Engines Super Late Florida Spec engines will not be allowed for use in competition in events utilizing the S.E.A.L. rules and guidelines. Additionally, Jimmy Cope Racing Engines have been removed from the approved builders list for the Florida Spec Super Late Model Engine package.

The change in status for Jimmy Cope Racing Engines comes as a result of an engine inspection of one of their sealed Super Late engines at the Governor’s Cup at New Smyrna Speedway by Chief Technical Inspector and S.E.A.L. committee member Ricky Brooks. The inspection revealed several major infractions where the builder significantly deviated from the guidelines established for engine builders. Officials determined that the infractions were too severe and numerous, as well as intentional, to issue just a fine. Removal from the program was determined to be the appropriate action following an in-depth review of the engine and the facts.

S.E.A.L. is an organization founded in 2008 to oversee the sealed engines used in Super Late Model racing, which has led to consistency and substantial cost savings for the racers. Racing officials from North and South make up the organization which more recently moved forward with efforts to unify and nationally recognize a group of certified re-builders for pavement crate late model racing.
