Special from Speed51.com – Winchester Speedway has released the schedule for the inaugural Flyover States 150 set for Tuesday, May 18. The mid-week show will be the first event co-sanctioned by the ARCA/CRA Super Series and the ARCA Midwest Tour since the Chicagoland Showdown held at the now-defunct Illiana Motor Speedway in 2015.
An optional practice session will be held Monday afternoon, May 17 for teams to dial in their cars on the World’s Fastest Half-Mile. Open practice will go from 4-7 p.m. ET for both Super Late Model and Vore’s Compact Touring Series teams. Each hour will be split up into a 45 minute session for Super Late Models and 15 minutes for VCTS teams. The pits and infield will close one hour later, at 8:00 p.m. Grandstands will be open to spectators for the practice session.
The pits open for teams at noon ET on race day, May 18, with a drivers/crew chiefs meeting scheduled for 12:30. Practice is slated to begin at 1:30 for Compacts, with the first Super Late Model practice set to start at 2:00. Each division will get three half-hour sessions, and during the final SLM session two drivers will be sent out on-track at a time for three laps each.
Vore’s Compact Touring Series will qualify at 4:00 before an hour-long break. Following a live preview show on the frontstretch, Flyover States 150 qualifying will hit the track at 5:30.
The night’s card will begin with the Vore’s Compact Touring Series Home State 30 at 6:30. Flyover States 150 Driver Intros are slated to start at approximately 7:00, with the green flag set to drop at 7:30.
Tickets for the Flyover States 150 are on sale now at winchesterspeedway.com/tickets.
The ARCA/CRA Super Series and ARCA Midwest Tour have co-sanctioned six races together over the years, starting with the Border Wars 150 at Toledo Speedway in April 2013. Johnny VanDoorn won the event for CRA over Chris Wimmer.
Other winners of co-sanctioned events include Travis Sauter at Madison International Raceway in 2013, while in 2014 Brian Campbell won at Toledo and reigning Snowball Derby champion Ty Majeski took his first Super Late Model touring series win at Illiana.
The most recent co-sanctioned event saw the ARCA/CRA Super Series and ARCA Midwest Tour compete in separate 50-lap features at Illiana, then join together for a final 50-lap sprint. Hunter Baize (CRA) and Ricky Baker (ARCAMT) each took the series qualifier features, while former ARCA Midwest Tour champion Andrew Morrissey won the finale in the combined field.
