Fishers, IN (5-5-2025) – Sam Johnson will make his debut on May 10, 2025, at Anderson Speedway sporting his new Pro Late Model for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance. The 18-year-old, from Fishers, IN and a graduate of Fishers High School, is a full-time Engineering Student at Purdue University. Sam has been racing his Legend car for several years at Anderson Speedway, his home track. Anderson was lucky to see some amazing nail-biting battles between Robbins and Johnson making serious cat and mouse games to entertain the crowds. “Man, I love racing that kid,” said John Robbins after one of the races at Anderson Speedway. Sam and John have a tremendous respect for each other as competitors racing at the fast and high-banked quarter-mile track. Sam hopes to bring this same enthusiastic competition to the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour this year.
Within the Hoosier Midwest Legend Series in 2024, Sam also captured the most wins out of all the Legend Drivers in the State of Indiana. The series traveled around the State of Indiana and Ohio racing short tracks with a strong car count. The Hoosier Midwest Legend Series made Anderson Speedway their home track honoring the annual Dietzen/Fritz Memorial and the Drake Wood Memorial. Sam won 3 of the 7 races at Anderson Speedway in 2024. In Ohio, Sam swept the season’s wins at Shady Bowl Speedway (De Graff, OH). Sam also took home one of the highest payouts for Legend Cars ($5000) at Whittemore Speedway in Whittemore, MI last fall during the Nichole Rene’ Northern Nationals. In 2023, Sam clinched the Salem Speedway Championship in the legendary track’s Legend Series.
Sam began racing at 5 years old but began practicing at only age 4-1/2 at the famous Mini Indy Speedway racing Quarter Midget racecars. “Sam really doesn’t have a memory much before he began driving a racecar,” says mom Donita Johnson. Sam’s early age of racing helped Sam develop a lot of skills and success. Sam retired from Quarter Midgets at age 12 after capturing several track and State Championships.
The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour racing opportunity is one dream in Sam’s succession of dreams. “It’s a big step in my dreams of racing professionally,” Sam Johnson claims. Driving a Pro Late Model is typically a step to prove a driver’s talent to the upper echelons of the race industry. The new and privileged JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour driver said, “I really hope I can make all my followers, team and sponsors proud with this debut at Anderson Speedway.” Sam must additionally focus on finals for classes this week at Purdue University as the semester wraps up for Sam’s freshman year. Juggling the demands of holding a 3.29 GPA in the rigorous engineering program at Purdue University while starting this new Pro Late Model race team endeavor, has made a challenge for the aspiring driver. This may sound like an unobtainable challenge for an ordinary racer. However, Sam Johnson is not your ordinary racer, he is a one-of-a-kind driver with big dreams.
