Salem, IN (October 17, 2017) – Logan Runyon had a big day at the Winchester 400 on Sunday, October 8th, he won the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS 2017 Championship by being the highest finisher of the four Championship Chase finalist, he clinched the 2017 Senneker Performance Rookie of the Year Award and claimed the 2017 Cometic Gasket Season Hardcharger Award, a truly remarkable season for the Ohio native.
Runyon came into the 400 trailing 2016 Cometic Gasket Season Hardcharger Award winner Wes Griffith Jr. by 15 gained positions. Griffth Jr.’s day ended on lap 158 after an on track incident, giving Griffith Jr. an 18th place finish, one better then he started, giving him 31 gained positions for the season.
Runyon was still on the track and gaining positions, even when he lost a couple of laps in the pits trying to fix an engine problem. Runyon ended the day with a sixth place finish, three laps down to winner Noah Gragson. Runyon had started 24th in the field, giving him 18 gained positions, which earned him a Hoosier Racing Tires Performance Award and the Hamner Racing Engines Hardcharger Award for the event. Runyon’s 18 gained positions for the 400 gave him a total of 33 for the season, two better then Griffith Jr., earning him the 2017 Cometic Gasket Hardcharger Award.
Griffith Jr. finished in second in the standings with 31 gained positions. Tyler Ankrum and Stephen Nasse were tied for third with 11 gained positions a piece. Stephen Wallace finished in fifth place with nine gained positions.
