Salem, IN (March 8, 2018) – 2017 ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS Champion and Senneker Performance Rookie of the Year Logan Runyon has announced he will seek to defend his Championship during the upcoming 2018 ARCA/CRA Super Series season. The 21 year old racer was the Champion during the series’ first season with the Champion Chase format, his sixth place finish in the Winchester 400, the Championship event for the series, earned him his first ever Championship with CRA over fellow Chase finalist Dalton Armstrong, three time series Champion Johnny VanDoorn and Wes Griffith Jr. Runyon was only the fourth driver to win both the series Championship and Rookie of the Year in the same season in the 21 year history of the series, joining three time series Champion Scott Hantz, Derrick Griffin and Grant Quinlan.
“Winning the Championship was a huge achievement for my team and me last year, especially being my rookie season,” remarked Runyon. “Our main goal was compete for rookie of the year, along with finishing races, fill the note book and learn every week. We were able to do that and then some.”
Runyon was tied with VanDoorn for the most top ten finishes with the series in 2017 with nine. Runyon had the highest percentage of laps completed with the series at 83.9% and totaled the most laps completed of any driver with the series at 2057. Runyon was the Cometic Gasket Hardcharger of the Year, gaining more positions than any other driver in the top 15 in final series points.
Runyon will go into the 2018 season with a lot more information, having raced at all the tracks the series will race at in 2018 during the 2017 season. Runyon will once again have the expertise of Crew Chief Kyle Jones preparing his cars and on top the box for each race.
Runyon added, “I’m excited to see what the 2018 season holds for Runyon Motorsports and our races with CRA, especially with the experience we gained during the 2017 season. There’s some things and certain tracks we needed to clean up a little and things I need to work on as a driver, but there were a lot of tracks we had really fast cars at last year, which was the first time there for us. I can’t wait to go back with more seat time and a thicker notebook and capitalize on it and compete for wins, will be ready to go in Nashville!”
Runyon has all 12 ARCA/CRA Super Series point events on his 2018 schedule, along with the non-point Battle at Berlin 251 and some late model races with Gem City Racing at Kil-Kare Raceway, which is the closest track to his hometown of Cambridge, Ohio. Runyon was recently selected as a finalist for the second year in a row for the Kulwicki Driver Development Program.
The 2018 point season is set to begin for the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS on Saturday, April 7th in the North/South Super Late Model Challenge 100 Presented by Team Construction, which will take place at famed Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville. That event will be co-sanctioned by the ARCA/CRA Super Series, the Southern Super Series and the CARS Super Late Model Tour.
