Howie Lettow Memorial Rookie points leader excited to return to site of first CRA win
Avon, Indiana (Thursday, July 16, 2015): For 19-year-old, Quinnton Bear, the 2015 racing season within the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance has been a quick learning experience. Trial by error has been the theme for the rookie title contender as he keeps improving with every race within the premier Pro Late Model tour in the country. In his last race, the Hoosier State teenager scored a career high second place showing in only his fifth career start on the tour.
The Dixie 100 Presented by JEGS.com was on July 10th at the fast 4/10s (0.400) mile progressively banked paved oval of Dixie Motor Speedway (MI), located north of Flint and south of Saginaw in Birch Run, Michigan. In the theme of the year so far for Bear, he had never seen the Eastern Michigan speed plant before arriving for test and tune day on the day before. After qualifying fourth quick out of 24 cars on the grounds, Bear started sixth after a nine-car inversion.
After a battle for the lead with Trevor Berry that saw Bear briefly take the lead on laps 74-75, reigning JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Champion, Dan Leeck overtook both drivers to grab the point for himself. Bear recoiled and went back after Leeck but couldn’t get close enough to battle and would settle for a runner-up showing.
“We had a great run at Dixie. We were really happy to come out of Dixie with a second place finish. Puts us third overall in points and we’re still leading the Rookie points. We just have got to keep doing what we’re doing.” Offered the Avon, Indiana driver. “We finally get to go to a track that I’ve actually been to before (Anderson Speedway). We’re looking forward to going back to work behind the wheel of the #94 car. We want the Howie Lettow Rookie title first, but we also want the overall championship too.” He added.
Anderson Speedway (IN), the site of his first ever win in a Late Model when he won a CRA Late Model Sportsman Series race there back on September 13th, 2014, is the next track on the 2015 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour schedule. The Anderson 100 Presented by JEGS.com will kick off the Stoops Freightliner Redbud 300 Weekend on Friday, July 17th at the fast 1/4 (0.250) mile high-banked paved oval. If all goes well, Bear will then race the next day on Saturday, July 18th in the ARCA/CRA Super Series headlining race of the weekend.
For the remainder of the 2015 racing season, Bear’s #94 Buzze Racing / Quinnton Bear Racing / Chevrolet will have additional sponsorship decals from Bear’s Lawn Service as well as Bassett Racing Wheels, Sparco, PGG Enterprises, McGunegill Engine Performance and M.P.H. Promotions.
