Ali Kern’s successful climb through three years and 34 races in the ARCA/CRA Super Series
Fremont, Ohio (Wednesday, October 7, 2015): Without question, Ali Kern is the most successful female driver in the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS 19-year history. The 2013 Rookie of the Year became the second female driver in series history to win a race when she went to victory lane in Kalamazoo Klash XXIII at Kalamazoo Speedway (MI) on August 12th. She was also the second woman driver ever to win a Fast Qualifier award when she scored her first one at Baer Field Speedway (IN) on August 22nd and then backed that up at the legendary high-banks of Winchester Speedway (IN) on September 6th.
In 34 career appearances and in addition to her coveted victory, she also recorded three runner-up showings and a total of six top five finishes. In 13 of those events, she scored at least a top 10 run. This never give up attitude was despite the roadblocks of being a female driver in a male dominated sport while juggling a full-time college life and two part-time jobs. Despite an underfunded team and in addition to winning the 2013 Rookie of the Year title, she was also the overall runner-up during her freshman season, the 22-year-old persevered towards her ultimate goals against the toughest Super Late Model competition in the country in the premier organization for short track racing in the country; Champion Racing Association (CRA) Powered by JEGS.
Beginning at the midway point of the 2014 racing season, Kern began driving for Championship winning Car Owner and Crew Chief, Scott Neal, the 2011 ARCA/CRA Super Series title winning Crew Chief with Derrick Griffin as well as the 2012 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour championship team with now NASCAR Camping World Truck Series star, Daniel Hemric. The esteemed Crew Chief and well respected car owner in CRA teamed up with Ali Kern Motorsports after a separation between Kern and another team. With Neal on top of the pit box calling the shots as Crew Chief, Kern has risen to one of the most accomplished and respected drivers within the ARCA/CRA Super Series.
One of the most popular drivers in the Salem, Indiana based tour; Kern has been a strong contender in every race she has entered. Since the beginning of her racing career in 2000 when she started racing Quads at her home track of Sandusky Speedway (OH), Kern has quickly risen through the ranks and it made Hal Hawk and Crown Battery stand up and take notice in 2008 when the Crown Battery logos began adorning her machines. A relationship that has lasted for the past seven seasons.
For the second year in a row, Kern has been invited to participate in the NASCAR Drive for Diversity Combine in October in Virginia. In 2014, Kern consistently strong in every on track evaluation as her smooth driving style combined with a touch of controlled aggressiveness made the representatives within Max Siegel Enterprises, the hosts of the Combine take notice and invite her back for a second consecutive year.
As for the 2015 racing season, Kern has helped propel Scott Neal Racing to an impressive fourth in the ARCA/CRA Super Series Owners Points Standings. Kern herself is eighth in the ARCA/CRA Drivers Points Standings despite missing five events. In addition to her win this season in Kalamazoo, Michigan, she has also recorded two top fives and four top 10s while six of the eight races resulted in at least a top 15 finish. She also grabbed two Fast Qualifier awards.
