Last couple of races this season to set the tone for a full run at the ARCA/CRA Super Series title in 2016
Gaylord, Michigan (Thursday, September 10, 2015): The 2015 racing season within the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS for Jordan Pruitt has been a learning experience to say the least for the ICAR Top Speed Modified Tour graduate. Intentions were to make a run at the series’ Rookie of the Year title and he knew it going in, that it would be a tough task against the always strong fields within Champion Racing Association’s (CRA) premier tour. While sitting eighth overall in the point’s standings and fifth in the freshman chase, Pruitt still thinks he’s left quite a bit on the table.
The Gaylord, Michigan driver is looking at finishing the 2015 campaign strong beginning on Sunday, September 13th with the 2nd Annual Bud St. Amant Memorial 125 Presented by Oakley Blacktop. The 1/3 (0.333) mile semi-banked paved oval of Columbus Motor Speedway, located southeast of Columbus in Obetz, Ohio is a track that Pruitt has only practiced on but has never raced at. A test session earlier in the year is the only track time the 28-year-old has had at the Buckeye State capital oval, but he feels confident heading back for the Sunday afternoon special event.
“I feel confident going back to Columbus. We did some testing there earlier in the year and feel that will help us. I have learned a lot this season unfortunately some of it was what not to do.” Laughed the Gaylord, Michigan driver as he looks to end the 2015 campaign with momentum towards a full schedule in 2016. “I think we are building a little momentum at the end of the season and I think we can keep that going at Columbus. Working with Gary St. Amant has been great. I have learned a lot from him in a short amount of time. I feel we have a good chance at winning this race. Hopefully we can do all the little things right that make a good car a great car.” He ended.
For Pruitt in the ARCA/CRA Super Series and even with missing four points’ races, he is still an impressive eighth overall in the point’s standings as well as fifth in the Rookie title chase. His first top five finish was at Flat Rock and he also has two top 10 finishes as his most recent outing resulted in an impressive sixth place finish at Baer Field Speedway (IN) back on August 22nd. In five of the eight races overall, including the non-points SpeedFest 2015 back in January in Georgia, he has finished least in the top 15.
For the rest of the 2015 racing season, both of Pruitt’s black #8’s, one an ARCA/CRA Super Series Super Late Model and the other an ICAR Top Speed Modified Tour ride, which he will make limited appearances in toward the end of the year, will sport sponsorship decals and support from Gaylord Machine & Fabrication as well as Gaylord Ford-Lincoln, Electric Sun, W.L. Snow Enterprises, Top Speed Fabrication and M.P.H. Promotions.
