Special from Speed51.com – A storm is brewing at the Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville, TN with Super Late Model stars from both the north and south set to converge at the historic 5/8-mile, high-banked oval this Saturday, April 7. The third North/South Super Late Model Challenge will serve as the season opener for the ARCA/CRA Super Series as well as the second round for both the Southern Super Series and CARS Super Late Model Tour.
As of Monday, 38 of the top Super Late Model teams in the nation are on the entry list for this Saturday’s 100-lap shootout.
Last year’s North/South SLM Challenge winner and 2017 Nashville Pro Late Model track champion Casey Roderick will help to lead the charge. He will be joined by a host of champions including three of the last four Southern Super Series champions with Stephen Nasse, Donnie Wilson and Bubba Pollard all entered.
The ARCA/CRA Super Series is represented by a pair of champions with defending title holder Logan Runyon and three-time champ Johnny VanDoorn throwing their hats into the mix.
2016 CARS Tour champion Raphael Lessard is eager to get his first win for Kyle Busch Motorsports while two-time and defending PASS South champion Matt Craig looks to put his name in the spotlight in the Music City.
The Southern defense will also be bolstered with sharp shooters such as Corey LaJoie, Mason Mingus, Matt Wallace, Steve Wallace, Jared Fryar, Willie Allen and Allen Karnes plus youngsters Connor Okrzesik and Corey Heim.
But the Northern aggressors boast some big names as well including Dennis Prunty, Brian Campbell, Hunter Jack, Cole Williams, Carson Hocevar, Joey Miller, Austin Kunert, Harold Fair, Jr. and Boris Jurkovic.
A selection of outlaws from out West are also making the trip into Tennessee with NASCAR Camping World Trucks Series driver Noah Gragson, Tyler Ankrum, Logan Bearden and Molly Helmuth, a member of the 2018 Kulwicki Driver Development Program, looking to rob the bank.
Even one of the best on the dirt, Stewart Friesen, is on the entry list and will be on hand to take on the best in Super Late Model racing for the first time.
