Very close Howie Lettow Memorial Rookie title chase finds Hoosier State teenager leading all freshman
Avon, Indiana (Wednesday, July 8, 2015): As the 2015 racing season rolls on for 19-year-old Quinnton Bear, his Quinnton Bear Racing Team and new Crew Chief, Gary St. Amant, Bear knows that it’s only a matter of time before the races start coming one after the other. Due to the massive amounts of rainouts in 2015, Bear has only raced four times during the calendar year. None of those four tracks he has ever seen before, but that’s nothing new to the Avon, Indiana teenager who spent the entire 2014 campaign learning new facilities.
Bear’s last race was the 3rd Annual Mercy Masters of the Pros 144 on July 4th at Lebanon I-44 Speedway (MO) located southwest of St. Louis in Lebanon, Missouri. The Hoosier State driver qualified an impressive 14th out of 39 cars on the property. After getting to as high as 10th in the race, contact with another car forced his #94 Buzze Racing machine from the event on lap 105. Despite a disappointing 25th place finish, Bear and his team know they were in contention despite this event being just his fourth ever in a Pro Late Model.
“We definitely had a top 10 car at Lebanon I-44. I just made a driver mistake due to lack of experience.” Offered the freshman driver who, despite his finish, actually took over the points lead in the chase for the 2015 Howie Lettow Memorial Rookie of the Year title.
“Everything is still a learning process for me and my whole team. We know we have Dixie to look forward too, so we’re definitely hoping for a better turnout.” He added. In addition to leading the freshman standings, Bear is also within the top 10 overall in JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour points as he now sits ninth.
For the rest of the 2015 racing season, Bear’s #94 Buzze Racing / Quinnton Bear Racing / Chevrolet will have additional sponsorship decals from Bear’s Lawn Service as well as Bassett Racing Wheels, Sparco, PGG Enterprises, McGunegill Engine Performance and M.P.H. Promotions.
