Nasse gets ARCA/CRA Super Series World Stock Car Festival Win on the Famous High Banks of Winchester Speedway

Salem, IN. (September 3, 2019) – Florida native Stephen Nasse has always liked racing on the famous High Banks of Winchester Speedway and after getting the win in Sunday’s JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour and a dominating win in Monday’s ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS Winchester 400 warm up event, it will be a weekend he will not forget.

 

“This just puts the icing on the cake for a great weekend,’ remarked a jubilant Nasse in victory lane. “This race played out pretty much like yesterday’s JEGS Tour race, we got out front and I was able to set the pace. The car just didn’t miss a beat all weekend. Chris and the whole Jett Motorsports Team do a great job and gave me great cars this weekend. This win gives us a lot of momentum going into next months Winchester 400, I think we will have the car to beat in that one!” 

 

Nasse started Sunday off by being the Hamke Race Cars/Rowdy Manufacturing Fast Qualifier with the ARCA/CRA Super Series. Then won Sunday night’s Winchester 100 for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance, his first victory with that series. 

 

2018 series Champion Josh Brock grabbed the early lead from his outside pole starting position after Nasse drew a five for the events inverted start. Brock kept the lead while Nasse worked his way to the front to settle in behind Brock in second. A couple of cautions and one red flag when the cars of Rick Turner and 2017 series Champion Logan Runyon made heavy contact with the turn one wall created a couple of tight restarts, but Brock was able to keep the lead each time. Turner and Runyon were both okay after there crash, but both cars sustained heavy damage ending the day for both. 

 

Nasse tried the inside pass several times before finally getting by on lap 52. From there Nasse would pull away and get the win as the event ran the second half of the event caution free with Nasse winning by almost three seconds. Nasse picked up the AR Bodies Cool Move of the Race Award for his pass of Brock and picked up a Hoosier Racing Tire Performance Award. 

 

Two time series Champion Travis Braden battled in the top five throughout the event and made a late pass on Brock to grab second for the fifth time this season with the series. Brock would finish in third, highest of the series Chase for the Championship drivers. 

 

Senneker Performance Rookie of the Year points leader Jack Dossey III and former series regular Dalton Armstrong had a battle on the track throughout the last quarter of the race after Armstrong had raced back into the top five after pitting for adjustments. The on-track battle resulted in hard contact from Armstrong to Dossey III on one attempt to pass, Dossey III’s car looked like it was going to spin out in turn four, but he made a miraculous recovery and did not lose a position. For his save Dossey III was awarded the FLUIDYNE High Performance Cool Under Pressure Award. 

 

Dossey III would finish in fourth with Armstrong in fifth place. Dossey III’s crew was awarded the PitBoxes.com Pit Crew of the Race Award for the repairs they made to get Dossey III’s car back in race shape Sunday night and Monday morning after Dossey III made hard contact with the turn two wall on his second lap of qualifying Sunday afternoon. 

 

Two time series winner Eddie Van Meter came from his 15th place starting position to finish in sixth, earning a Hoosier Racing Tire Performance Award and the Progressive Racing Engines Hard Charger Award. Defending event winner Jeff Fultz would finish in seventh, 2016 series Champion Cody Coughlin finished in eighth, rookie Scotty Tomasik was ninth with Hunter Jack in tenth place. 

 

The ARCA/CRA Super Series next event will be the $10,000 winner take all Speed 51.com Super Select Special non-points event this Saturday at Lucas Oil Raceway. The series will continue it’s 2019 Chase for the Championship with the Glass City 200 at Toledo Speedway on Saturday, September 21st
