Motor City Racing Promotions Ready For First Outdoors Motorsports Event This Friday At Dixie Motor Speedway

Dixie 100 Presented by JEGS.com set for Friday, July 10th

 

Salem, Indiana (Tuesday, July 7, 2015): The fourth race of the fifth anniversary 2015 racing season for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance; Dixie 100 Presented by JEGS.com will feature the return of the tour for the first time, since the 2013 racing season, to Dixie Motor Speedway. The fast 4/10s (0.400) progressively banked paved oval located south of Saginaw and north of Flint in Birch Run, Michigan will see Motor City Racing Promotions host and operate the running of the Dixie 100 Presented by JEGS.com on Friday, July 10th.

 

Dalton Armstrong, the winner of the season opener for points at Springport Motor Speedway (MI) on May 3rd, will lead the JEGS/CRA contingent into Eastern Michigan. He will be joined by veteran, Josh Nelms, who, after 44 career events, finally won his first JEGS/CRA race back on May 23rd at Columbus Motor Speedway (OH). Nelms will also have a teammate in a second T.K. Racing entry ‘To Be Announced’.

 

Reigning JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Champion, Dan Leeck returns behind the wheel of his own machine and looks to score that elusive first JEGS/CRA victory at his home track while Two-time reigning ARCA/CRA Super Series Champion, Travis Braden will return to the driver’s seat of the #26 machine normally piloted by Mike Stacy. 16-year-old Kody Evans, who races for Corunna, Michigan based DuroByte Motorsports, looks to rewrite the rest of his 2015 racing season starting with the Dixie 100 Presented by JEGS.com as the Canadian Brothers of Marc and 17-year-old Jaxson Jacobs will travel across the border once again to compete.

 

The father-son combination of Michigan Motorsports Hall of Fame driver, Andy Bozell, a 12-time Kalamazoo Speedway Track Champion and his son, Phil Bozell, both accomplished Outlaw Super Late Model standouts, are touring full-time with JEGS/CRA in 2015. The elder Bozell has never raced at Dixie before while his son has made one appearance in an ARCA Truck Series event back in 2002.

 

The list of Howie Lettow Memorial Rookie of the Year Presented by VanDoorn Racing Development title contenders will be led by current freshman point’s leader, 19-year-old Quinnton Bear. Fellow rookie, 18-year-old Matt Mills as well as Lorz Motorsports teammates, 15-year-old Austin Kunert and Kevin Zielezinski will all head to Birch Run, Michigan for the first time in their careers as they continue their battle for the coveted freshman title.

 

A plethora of local flavor will be prevalent within the starting field as former track champion, Kyle Hayden looks to fight off the traveling invaders. In addition, home tracks favorites such as Trevor Berry, Robbie Johnson and David McManus will also all want to keep the trophy and money in the area. Drivers with laps turned in Outlaw Super Late Model competition includes Eric Lee and Justin Claucherty as they hope experience on the fast 4/10s mile will propel him to victory. Accomplished veterans such as Jack Smith, Jay Sommers and  Canadian Donnie Varcoe will be joined by 19-year-old Kyle Crump as well 17-year-old Ben Welch.

 

In three previous appearances, by the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour, 2013 Tour Champion, Cody Coughlin, now a Joe Gibbs Racing development driver within the ARCA Racing Series Presented by Menards was the last victor during his championship winning season. Current NASCAR Camping World Truck Series rookie of the year title contender and 2012 Tour Champion, Daniel Hemric won during his championship run that year while Chicagoland veteran, Eddie Hoffman won the inaugural JEGS/CRA race in Birch Run, Michigan in 2011. No former JEGS/CRA winners at Dixie are entered for this event, guaranteeing a new race winner on Friday.

 

In addition, the Pure Stocks division from the neighboring tracks of Auto City Speedway, Owosso Speedway and Whittemore Speedway will come together for a grueling grudge match. The Feature will pay $300 to win and $70 to start. Plus, Eddie Chew, the Chief Technical Director for CRA, will be overseeing all aspects of technical inspection for the special Invitational. Finally, the Spartan Speedway based Michigan Legends Series will be taking on the Whittemore Speedway Legends on neutral ground for the first time on the Dixie’s 1/3 (0.333) mile semi-banked paved oval.

 

There will be a special practice day slated for Thursday, July 9th and is open to all competitors who are racing the following day. The pit gates will open at 3:30p.m., and rotating practice for all divisions will go from 4:30-7:30p.m. Pit passes for the open practice day will be $20.00. Then on race day, Friday, July 10th, the pit gates will open at 12:00p.m., while the grandstands gates will swing open at 5:00p.m. Qualifying begins at 6:00p.m., and Racing gets the Green Flag at 7:30p.m. For a complete Schedule of Events and Official Event Information visit: www.dixie100.com.

 

Dixie Motor Speedway is located right off of I-75 in Birch Run, Michigan. The smooth 4/10 semi-banked oval provides great racing action that can be seen under the brightest track lights in the State. New aluminum grandstands, additional restrooms and a spacious concourse make this facility a favorite for fans and drivers alike. The track sits between two great family friendly tourist destinations, the Birch Run Prime Outlet Mall and Michigan’s Little Bavaria, Frankenmuth.

 

Motor City Racing Promotions, based in Rochester Hills, Michigan was founded in 2014 to be the new sanctioning body of the Midwest Indoor Racing Series. The first race, for what is now Michigan’s premier touring series during the winter months, was held at the Perani Arena and Event Center in Flint, Michigan on November 3rd, 2012 under the direction of MGM Motorsports.

 

Also in 2014 and in addition to sanctioning Midwest Indoor Racing Series events, Motor City Racing Promotions (MCRP) began providing staffing services for the Dixie Motor Speedway in Birch Run, Michigan. In 2015, MCRP coordinates race day operations in addition to providing an officiating staff for both the Dixie Motor Speedway and the Allstar Performance Michigan Dirt Cup Modified Tour Presented by Lane Automotive.
