Special from Winchester Speedway – Everyone will tell you, the Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks put on a show at the World’s Fastest Half-Mile. Now the Street Stocks will have several extra incentives during the 49th running on the Winchester 400 weekend (October 9-11) at Winchester Speedway in Indiana.
The Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS will now race for $1,000 to win in their 50-lap main event on Saturday, October 10. That is a $250 boost to the winner of the prestigious event.
An optional practice session is slated for Thursday, October 8th and due to sponsorship from GottaRace.com, the Street Stocks who plan to attend will receive a $100 off their fee to test that day. Instead of paying $200 per car, each team will only pay $100 per car thanks to GottaRace.com.
Also up for grabs that day will be $250 for the top time posted. That prize is being supported by Kimmel / Dillner Sports Analysis. The fastest lap recorded on Thursday, October 8, by an entered Street Stock car, will pick up the extra cash.
“There was some talk on social that I didn’t care about the Street Stocks at Winchester and that’s the furthest thing from the truth,” said Bob Dillner, promoter of Winchester Speedway. “I’ve owned and driven Street Stocks; it’s what grassroots racing in America is all about. Charlie Shaw (Owner, Winchester Speedway) and I love them and they put on a heckuva show.
“We picked up support from GottaRace.com to lower the cost to test on Thursday and have added some bonus money for the fast lap that day as well as more cash to the winner of Saturday’s race. Plus we are going to add a practice session back to the Friday schedule for those that can’t make it on Thursday.”
A 45-minute practice session for both Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks and the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman has been scheduled for 3pm ET on Friday to accommodate some of the racers wishes if it is needed.
Another adjustment to the Saturday’s itinerary is two, 15-minute practice sessions before a group qualifying session that sets the starting line-up for the 50-lap main event. The Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks feature is 10-laps more than in recent years due to requests of racers for a longer distance.
The Winchester 400 weekend is scheduled for three action-packed days of racing at the “Fastest Half Mile” on October 9-11. A limited number of tickets are available at winchesterspeedway.com/tickets. Sunday’s main event will be the 49th Running of the Winchester 400 presented by JEGS for some of the top Super Late Model drivers in America.
