Event Information – Entry List
Salem, Indiana (Wednesday, September 16, 2015): The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance will be back in action this Saturday night for the Michigan Cup 100 Presented by JEGS.com at Springport Motor Speedway located in Springport, Michigan. Saturday will be the ninth event so far this season for the Crate Motor Series sanctioned by Champion Racing Association Powered by JEGS. After Saturday, the series will only have two events left on the 2015 schedule, one at the Fall Brawl at Lucas Oil Raceway on September 27th and the Season Championship event on Friday, October 9th at Winchester Speedway, which kicks off the big 44th Annual Winchester 400 Weekend.
Coming into Saturday night’s race Dalton Armstrong is the series driver point’s leader after eight events, he won the series season opener at Springport Motor Speedway back on May 3rd, his first ever CRA win, and won the August 8th event at Auto City Speedway. Armstrong is the only driver so far this season with more than one series points win. The Bill Burba Motorsports Team is in first place in the series owner points after eight events this season. 2013 and 2014 ARCA/CRA Super Series Champion Travis Braden has driven the last six races for that team after Mike Stacy competed in the first two series events of the season. Both Armstrong and Braden are entered for Saturday night’s event.
Series veteran Josh Nelms is also entered, he is currently second in driver points after getting his first series win on May 23rd at Columbus Motor Speedway. Nelms is 39 points behind Armstrong in series driver points and his TK Racing team is third in owner points. VanDoorn Racing Development Rookie driver Quinnton Bear is also entered, he is third in driver points with a season high finish of second at the series Dixie Motor Speedway event and backed that up with a strong second place finish in the ARCA/CRA Super Series event at Kalamazoo Speedway on August 12th.
Other top series drivers entered include father and son Andy and Phil Bozell, Canadian brothers Marc and Jaxson Jacobs, rookie Austin Kunert, D.J. Weltmeyer, Jerry Andrews, Canadian Tristan Van Wieringen, who is entered to make his third 2015 series start on Saturday for the Durobyte Motorsports team and 2014 series Champion Dan Leeck, who picked up his first series win at Dixie Motor Speedway on July 10th.
There will be plenty of competition for the series regulars at Springport on Saturday night, including part-time series competitor Eric Lee, a series winner in 2014, Robbie Johnson, a series winner in 2013, Lakeland, Florida native Steve Dorer, also a series winner in 2014 who will be making his 2015 series debut Saturday night and Kyle Hayden, who came from his 17th starting position at the May 3rd Springport event to finish sixth. Several regulars from Berlin Raceway are also entered to compete in Saturday night’s event including Chris Koslek, who got a second place finish in the ARCA/CRA Super Series Battle at Berlin 251 on June 16th, 2015 Berlin Modified Champion Ben Welch, along with Jordan Dahlke, Tim Greene and Ken Wobma. Amber Slagle and Dean Gassert are entered to make their 2015 series debuts Saturday night.
There is an open practice scheduled for Friday, Pits will open at 2pm, open practice will go from 3pm until 8pm. Pit gates will open on Saturday at 11am. Practice will begin for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour at 1:30pm with qualifying for the series starting at 4pm. The race program will begin at 6pm and will include the Michigan Cup 100 Presented by JEGS.com for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance. Springport Modifieds, ABC Classes and Sport Stocks will also have feature events along with Mini-Cup’s. Sunday is the rain date for Saturday’s event if needed.
