Concord, North Carolina (Tuesday, June 30, 2015): As one of only a handful of drivers to compete in every Mercy Master of the Pros 144, Matt Wallace returns to the track where he has had a lot of success. The Concord, NC teen has proven he knows the fast way around the track and has the wins to prove it. In two full seasons, he had 8 wins and was points runner up both years, but this big win has eluded him. Last year he finished 3rd in this marquee race and he wants to better that by 2 spots.
Helping him will be 5 time Pro-Cup champion Clay Rogers. Clay is the same crew chief that guided him to victory during Speedweeks at New Smyrna in February, and proved that together they are a great combination. Wallace was fastest in practice each day in Florida, and always had a top finish as long as race luck was his side, and it was his first time to lay eyes on the half mile facility.
“We are looking forward to racing where I got my start, we have a lot of fans there, and a lot of great memories for me and my family”, said Wallace. This is the biggest race event of the year, and the largest pro-late model payout in the country, coupled with a huge fireworks display for the July 4th. For Matt and his team, the biggest difference this race will be the new Hamke Chassis that was fast at Nashville in June. The Lucas Oil/Dan Althoff Trucking Chevrolet will also carry local sponsorship from the Lebanon Super 8 in addition to regular sponsors Eibach, SEM Products, Schoenfeld Headers, RE Suspension and Russo’s Tinting.
