Marcum Gets Third Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Win at Anderson Speedway Saturday

Salem, IN (September 18, 2022) – For the third time this season at Anderson Speedway, Jeff Marcum won a Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS event Saturday night, he is the season leader in victories with those three wins.

Marcum set fast time during All-Star Performance qualifying but the invert of eight put Charlie Keevan and Cassten Everidge on the front row.

Keevan took the lead at the start with a caution early in the 75-lap race having a lasting impact. J.P. Crabtree, the winner of the two most recent series events, had to pit to make a repair and joined the field at the back of the pack.

Another caution flag waved on lap 25 when brothers Hunter and Tanner Jack made contact in turn two while the two were battling for second place.

The race was red flagged on lap 37 when Tanner Jack, Kyle Worley and Keegan Sobilo tangled on the back straight.

Marcum took the lead from Keevan on lap 28. Crabtree climbed through the field to be running second on lap 43 but was passed for the position by Hunter Jack on lap 54.

Marcum scored the victory by .686-seconds over Hunter Jack, Crabtree, Everidge and Keevan.

“The last trip to Anderson there was a late red flag and we picked up some debris that put a hole in the tire on the restart,” Marcum said in the Riley & Sons Victory Lane. “When we had the red flag, I was hoping it wouldn’t happen again, because we had a really good car.”

He said the team continues to build good race cars for him on the quarter-mile high-banked oval.

Hunter Jack said he messed up early in the race by getting into the back of his brother.

“We had pretty good cars, might have been able to go one-two,” remarked Hunter Jack. “It was a mistake on my part.

“I needed one more caution there at the end. I got loose coming to the last restart on the outside which cost me a chance at the lead.”

Crabtree said he got impatient early in the race.

“I made a mistake at the beginning,” he said. “It was my fault at the beginning. The handling on the car just went away at the end of the race”

The next Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS event will be their Season Championship event for the Chase for the Championship drivers on Saturday, October 15th at Winchester Speedway.
