Amor and Kirby Looking to Claim Inaugural Series Championships
Salem, Indiana (Wednesday, October 14, 2015): The Lucas Oil Raceway Stock Car Series presented by Visit Hendricks County will have its Budweiser King of the Track Championship this Sunday, October 18th on the historic 0.686-mile oval located in Brownsburg, Indiana, just West of Indianapolis. Sunday will be the final events of the season for the series, and will include Lucas Oil Raceway Stock Car Series Season Championship events for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS, Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS and the Vore’s Compact Touring Series (VCTS).
Sunday’s events will be the fifth event for each of the CRA series involved with the Lucas Oil Raceway Stock Car Series, four of the events this season were also CRA Championship point events. The events included four Friday night shows on April 24th, May 8th, July 3rd and July 31st and the CRA Fall Brawl event on Sunday, September 27th.
Shawn Amor comes into Sunday’s event as the point’s leader with the CRA Late Model Sportsman division of the Lucas Oil Raceway Stock Car Series, he won the season opener for that division on April 24th. Amor has a commanding 48 point lead over recently crowned 2015 CRA Late Model Sportsman Season Points Champion Jason Atkinson. Atkinson got the win in the series 125 lap May 8th event. Billy Van Meter is third in series points, he is only two points behind Atkinson. Jared Thomas is in fourth, seven points behind Van Meter. Tony Brutti is in fifth place, he is 38 points behind Thomas. Terry Fisher Jr. has won the last two series events at Lucas Oil Raceway.
2012 Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stock Champion Jimmy Kirby comes into Sunday’s event as the CRA Street Stock point’s leader in the Lucas Oil Raceway Stock Car Series. Kirby, the winner of the July 3rd series event, has a slim eight point leader over Colby Lane, who was the winner of the series season opener on April 24th. Matt Clark is in third place, he is 38 points behind Lane. Recently crowned 2015 CRA Street Stock Season Points Champion Jason Atkinson is in fourth place, he is 12 points behind Clark and was the winner of the series Fall Brawl event on September 27th. A.J. Ridner is in fifth place, he is four points behind Atkinson. Chuck Barnes Jr. won the series 125 lap event on July 31st.
Each series Champion will be honored at the 2015 CRA Awards Banquet on Friday, January 8th at the Crowne Plaza Indianapolis Downtown at Union Station. Lucas Oil Raceway will award each Lucas Oil Raceway Stock Car Series Champion with a trophy as well as several year-end product awards. The Lucas Oil Raceway CRA Late Model Sportsman and CRA Street Stock Champions will each receive a Holley Carburetor of their choice. The CRA Late Model Sportsman Champion will receive a $900 Product Certificate and the CRA Street Stock Champion a free Nose or Tail from Five Star Stock Car Bodies. Each Champion will receive a $50 Product Certificate from Landrum Performance Springs.
Pit gates will open Sunday morning at 10am. The events practice and qualifying rounds will begin at 12noon. The race program is set to begin at 2pm and will include 8 lap heat races and 30 lap features for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman and Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stocks. The Vores Compact Touring Series will also have 8 lap heat races and a 20 lap Feature.
General admission adult tickets for Friday will be $15, kids 12 and under will get in free. The event will feature free parking. A $20 ticket upgrade will be available for indoor seating to watch from a skybox. Skyboxes do not include catering. Pit Passes are $30 for drivers and crew. The first 300 fans through the gates on Sunday will receive official Budweiser gear along with other give-a-ways throughout the day. There will be life-sized beer pong (no alcohol will be provided), and cornhole.
