Heats and Features for the CRA Late Model Sportsman and CRA Street Stocks
Salem, Indiana (Tuesday, June 30, 2015): The Lucas Oil Raceway Stock Car Series presented by Visit Hendricks County will return to action this Friday, July 3rd on the historic 0.686-mile oval located in Brownsburg, Indiana, just West of Indianapolis. The six-race stock car series will crown year-end track champions in the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS, Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS and the Vore’s Compact Touring Series (VCTS). Friday night’s event will be both Lucas Oil Raceway Stock Car Series and Series Season Championship points for both the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman and Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stocks.
Friday night will have CRA Late Model Sportsman back in action in their third Lucas Oil Raceway Stock Car Series event of the season and the fourth Season Points Championship event of the season. Shawn Amor started the Lucas Oil Raceway Stock Car Series for the CRA Late Model Sportsman with a season opening win on April 24th in that 30 lap feature. Jason Atkinson came away with the win in the second Lucas Oil Raceway Stock Car Series event of the season on May 8th, that event was 125 laps, the longest event of the year for the series.
With his win in April and a second on May 8th, Amor comes into this Friday as the Lucas Oil Raceway Stock Car Series CRA Late Model Sportsman point’s leader. Scotty Tomasik is in second, 13 points behind Amor. Trey Craig is in third place, one point behind Tomasik. Jared Thomas is in fourth place, one point behind Craig. Rookie Hunter Jack is in fifth place, he is 16 points behind Thomas.
Atkinson is the current Series Season Championship point’s leader for the CRA Late Model Sportsman after three events so far this season. J.P. Crabtree is in second place, he is 18 points behind Atkinson. 2014 series Champion Greg Van Alst is in third place, he is four points behind Crabtree. Rookie Matthew Parsons is in fourth place, he is 10 points behind Van Alst. Jack Dossey III is in fifth place, two points behind Parsons. Dossey won the May 2nd Series event at Anderson Speedway while Tomasik won the Series last event on June 13th at Anderson Speedway.
The CRA Street Stocks will have their second event of the season with the Lucas Oil Raceway Stock Car Series and its sixth Season Points Championship event of the season. Colby Lane got the win in the Lucas Oil Raceway Stock Car Series CRA Street Stock season opening 30 lap event on April 24th. With that win Lane comes into Friday night as the Lucas Oil Raceway series point’s leader. Atkinson is in second, three points behind Lane. Jake McElfresh is in third place, two points behind Atkinson. Jason Thompson is in fourth place, two points behind McElfresh. James Kirby III is in fifth place, he is two points behind Thompson.
Atkinson comes into Friday night as the current Series Season Championship point’s leader for the CRA Street Stocks after five events. Atkinson was just crowned the 2105 CRA Triple Crown Series Champion after winning Saturday’s night’s last 200 lap CRA Triple Crown event at Anderson Speedway. It was Atkinson’s second straight win of the season after winning the series event on June 13th at Anderson Speedway. Josh Poore is currently second in Series Season Championship point’s, he is 57 points behind Atkinson. McElfresh is in third place, he is 23 points behind Poore. Lane is in fourth place, he is 16 points behind McElfresh. Rookie Andrew Teepe is in fifth place, he is 10 points behind Lane.
Other CRA Street Stock winners in 2015 include Lane in the 200 lap Triple Crown event at Shadybowl Speedway, Mason Keller in the 200 lap Triple Crown event at Kentucky Motor Speedway and Robert Amos Jr. in the series event at Anderson Speedway on May 9th. All three of these drivers were first time CRA winners.
Pit Gates will open on Friday at 5pm, with practice/qualifying beginning at 6:30pm. The race program is set to begin at 7:45 and will include 8 lap heat races and 30 lap features for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman and Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stocks. The Vores Compact Touring Series will have 8 lap heats and a 20 lap feature.
General admission adult tickets for Friday will be $15, kids 12 and under will get in free. The event will feature free parking. A $20 ticket upgrade will be available for indoor seating to watch from a skybox. Skyboxes do not include catering. Pit Passes are $30 for drivers and crew.
