Huntersville, North Carolina (Thursday, August 6, 2015): The last time the reigning JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Champion Dan Leeck raced the No. 12 Mr. Asphalt Chevrolet, he went to victory lane. That win came at his home track, Dixie Motor Speedway (Mich.). This weekend he looks to pick up his second career JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour win at another track he knows well, Auto City Speedway located in Clio, Mich.
The Dog Days of Summer 100 Presented by JEGS.com is a race that Leeck and his entire No. 12 Dan Leeck Racing team has been looking forward to all season. The 25-year-old driver finished second in this event last season in route to winning the series championship. At just under a half mile in length with turns that are different from each other, the 7/16-mile semi-banked oval is track most would call “strange.” It’s unique shape creates a challenge for crew chiefs and drivers while putting on a great show for onlookers.
“When you talk about home obviously Dixie Motor Speedway (Mich.) comes to mind but honestly, so does Auto City Speedway (Mich.),” Leeck said. “I’ve been racing at this track for many years and have had success. It is a place that I enjoy competing at and feel like last year we kind of let one get away. This time around, coming off a win at Dixie (Motor Speedway) (Mich.), we feel like we will be very competitive once again. I’m looking forward to racing in front of friends and family once again.”
Leeck has spent much of this season building a new development program. That doesn’t mean, however, that the Birch Run, Mich., native is done driving. Leeck plans on running many events in both Pro and Super Late Model competition before the 2015 season comes to an end.
Leeck’s No. 12 Chevrolet SS will carry sponsorship from Mr. Asphalt, Wellman Excavating, Bridge Lake Auto and Repair, Diesel Truck Sales, Helm Electric, Beyea Custom Headers, Checkered Flag Graphics, Hightower Racing Transmission, and Ilmor/PHM Engines.
