Salem, IN (May 2, 2017) – The Lawrence Towing CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS will be back in action this Saturday at Anderson Speedway located in Anderson, IN, in the first of two series events at the fast quarter mile. This event was originally scheduled for last Saturday night, but was postponed because of weather. Saturday’s event will be the only series event at Anderson Speedway prior to the next CRA Street Stock Four Crown Series event, which will be held their on Saturday, June 17th.
Saturday’s event will be the third point’s event of the season for the series that started off with 2004 ARCA/CRA Super Series Champion Chuck Barnes Jr. getting the win in the Cabin Fever event on April 2nd at Lucas Oil Raceway. Barnes Jr. made it two straight wins when he went to victory lane at Shadybowl Speedway on April 15th in the series first Four Crown event of the season.
Barnes Jr. is the series point’s leader heading into Saturday’s event. Colby Lane is in second place, he is 20 points behind Barnes Jr. Jacob McElfresh is third in points, he is eight points behind Lane. J.J. Schafer and Jason Thompson are tied for fourth in points, they are eight points behind McElfresh.
Saturday’s event is the last scheduled Road to Bristol series event, the winner and second place finishers from this Saturday’s event will receive guaranteed starting positions for the series event with the upcoming Short Track U. S. Nationals at Bristol Motor Speedway. To receive any of the Road to Bristol guaranteed starting positions, a driver must have competed in all three series Road to Bristol events.
Anderson’s own Josh Poore went to victory twice in series events at Anderson in 2016. Former series two time Champion Jason Atkinson won the Triple Crown 200 event at Anderson Speedway last season. Colby Lane and James Kirby III also picked up series wins at Anderson last season, for Kirby III, it was his first ever CRA win.
There is an open practice on Friday at Anderson Speedway, pits open at 4pm with open practice going from 5pm until 8pm. Pit Gates open on Saturday at 1:30pm. Practice is set to begin at 5pm for the CRA Street Stocks with qualifying beginning at 6:30pm. The race program will begin at 8pm and will include a 75 lap feature for the Lawrence Towing CRA Street Stocks. Also in action will be the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS and a 100 lap Anderson Speedway ThunderCar event, in a night full of stock car racing action.
