Salem, IN (September 3, 2018) – Veteran CRA competitor Jeff Lane capped off a big day at Winchester Speedway on Monday by getting the win in the Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS feature in the World Stock Car Festival event, after winning the ICAR Modifieds All-Star Tour feature just prior to the CRA Street Stock feature.
“This is a great way to end the weekend,” remarked Lane in victory lane. “Got to thank my car owner Loyd Davis and all the guys who put a ton of work into getting this car ready for this weekend. The car was fast all weekend, we knew it would be good in the race if we could get to the front. We got out front and we were good to go after that. I have to thank all the sponsors and a special thanks to my wife Linda.”
Jacob McElfresh grabbed the lead at the drop of the green flag from his pole starting position after Allstar Performance Fast Qualifier Lane drew a six for the events inverted start. The top 10 cars were all fighting hard for positions at the drop of the green flag. McElfresh continued to lead with two time series Champion Jason Atkinson making his way to second.
Lane quickly started his march to the front. Lane had a good battle with Atkinson for position, before making the pass for second place. Lane went to work on McElfresh and made the pass on lap 20 to take the lead. From there Lane went unchallenged to win by almost two seconds. The win makes Lane the series all-time winningest driver with 14 victories to date, breaking a tie with Atkinson and Josh Poore. Lane picked up the AR Bodies Cool Move of the Race Award for his pass of McElfresh.
McElfresh finished in second, highest of the series Chase of the Championship drivers. J.J. Schafer made some great moves at the end of the race to get a third-place finish and picked up the KRJ Race Products Sweet Move of the Race Award. Atkinson finished in fourth with 2016 series Champion Phil Jenkins in fifth place. Thomas Skiles and Josh Sage picked up the series heat race wins on Sunday night.
The next race for the Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks is with the Fall Brawl event at Lucas Oil Raceway on Sunday, September 15th, the second event of the 2019 Chase for the Championship for the series.
