Event Information – Entry List
Salem, Indiana (Tuesday, September 1, 2015): Champion Racing Association Powered by JEGS will be taking on the famous High Banks of historic Winchester Speedway this weekend, September 5th, 6th and 7th with the Labor Day Weekend World Stock Car Festival, one of the biggest stock car events held each year in Central Indiana. The weekend will feature exciting racing action from the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS, JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance, Broaster Chicken ICAR Top Speed Modifieds, Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman, Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stocks and the Vores Touring Compacts. Camping will be available all weekend and there will also be the annual Sunday night party in the pavilion featuring live music.
The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance has had eight events to date at Winchester Speedway. 2014 NASCAR Xfinity Champion and the driver taking over for the retiring Jeff Gordon in 2016, Chase Elliott, won the first ever series event held at Winchester Speedway on August 20th, 2011. Elliott also got a series Winchester win in 2012, part of his five total series wins. 2013 and 2014 ARCA/CRA Super Series Champion Travis Braden also has two series wins at Winchester, one in his CRA debut in 2011 and one on Winchester 400 Weekend last year. Trent Snyder is the two-time in a row defending winner of this event, part of his five series wins. Kyle Benjamin won a series event on the famous High Banks in 2012 while Corey Deuser got a victory in 2013.
Coming into Sunday night’s race at Winchester Dalton Armstrong is the series driver point’s leader after seven events, he won the series last event at Auto City Speedway on August 8th and the series season opener at Springport Motor Speedway. The Bill Burba Motorsports Team is in first place in the series owner points after seven events this season. Braden has driven the last five races for the team after Mike Stacy competed in the first two series events of the season. Both Armstrong and Braden are entered for Sunday’s event.
Series veteran Josh Nelms is also entered, he is currently second in driver points after getting his first series win on May 23rd at Columbus Motor Speedway. Nelms is 37 points behind Armstrong in series driver points and his TK Racing team is third in owner points. VanDoorn Racing Development Rookie driver Quinnton Bear is also entered, he is third in driver points with a season high finish of second at the series Dixie Motor Speedway event and backed that up with a strong second place finish in the ARCA/CRA Super Series event at Kalamazoo Speedway on August 12th.
Other top series drivers entered include father and son Andy and Phil Bozell, Canadian brothers Marc and Jaxson Jacobs, rookie Austin Kunert, Jack Smith, Kody Evans, 2014 series winner Corey Deuser, Cole Rouse, Jay Sommers, and Canadian Tristan Van Wieringen, a full-time series competitor in 2014, is entered to make his second 2015 series start on Saturday for the Durobyte Motorsports team.
CRA Veteran competitor Eddie Van Meter, who won his first ever series event at Anderson Speedway on July 17th in his first ever series start, is entered for Sunday’s race. Rick Turner, the all-time leader in starts with the ARCA/CRA Super Series and a former winner at Winchester Speedway, is entered in his own #5 car to make his series debut as a driver, after being a car owner for several events this season.
Ohio racer Colin Nickolai is entered to race in his second event of the season on Sunday, he was the Boyne Machine Company Fast Qualifier for this event last year. Michigan racer Jon Beach is entered to make his 2015 series debut on Sunday, beach finished third in this event last year. Former series regular Jordan Miller from Pennsylvania is entered to make his 2015 series debut. Local racer Fred Hopkins from New Castle, is entered to race in his second series event of the season. Alabama racer Bret Holmes is entered to make his second point’s event start on Sunday, Holmes competed in the series non-points event with SpeedFest 2015 in January in Georgia, where he got a seventh place finish as well as the Mercy Masters of the Pros 144 in Lebanon, Missouri where he finished ninth.
There will be an open practice for all divisions on Saturday, pits open at 10am, and rotating practice will go from 1pm until 5pm. There will be security at the track all weekend so teams can leave their equipment in the track. Pits open on Sunday at 8am, practice will begin at 10am with qualifying starting at 3pm. Racing action on Sunday will begin at 5pm and will include heat races for the Broaster Chicken ICAR Top Speed Modifieds, Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman, Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stocks and the Vores Touring Compacts. The Winchester 100 Presented by JEGS.com for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour will be the first feature of the night and will be followed by a 20 lap feature for the Vores Touring Compacts. The traditional Sunday night party will begin after the racing is completed.
Pits open on Monday at 10am. Any last chance races will be ran starting at 12:30pm. The first of four feature events will start at 1pm with the 40 lap Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman feature that will be followed by the 100 lap ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS feature, the 40 lap Broaster Chicken ICAR Top Speed Modifieds feature, with the 40 lap Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stocks feature ending the day.
