Salem, IN (August 5, 2016) – The ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS will continue its historic 20th season of competition with the Kalamazoo Klash 125 this Wednesday, August 10th as part of the Kalamazoo Klash XXIV at the famed Kalamazoo Speedway, located just outside Kalamazoo, Michigan. The Kalamazoo Klash XXIV is the one of the top Outlaw Super Late Model events in the nation held each year at Kalamazoo Speedway, this will be the ARCA/CRA Super Series third time being a part of this huge event.
This will be the sixth series event at Kalamazoo Speedway, Fred Campbell got the win in the first ever series event held there in 2002, Andy Ponstein got the win in 2005 and Brian Campbell got the win in the series event in 2006. NASCAR Star Kyle Busch got the win in the 2014 event after a tough battle with three time ARCA/CRA Super Series Champion Johnny VanDoorn. Ali Kern came away with the win in last year’s event, getting her first ever ARCA/CRA Super Series victory.
Current NASCAR Xfinity Series point’s leader Erik Jones is entered for his first ever ARCA/CRA Super Series event at Kalamazoo Speedway. The 2015 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Champion picked up his third Xfinity series win at Iowa Speedway this past Saturday night. Jones was the inaugural JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance Champion in 2011 and was the JEGS/CRA $100,000 Super Late Model Triple Crown Champion last season. Jones has already picked up two ARCA/CRA Super Series victories this season, he won the Battle at Berlin 251 at Berlin Raceway on June 13th and picked up the win in the series last event on July 22nd at Lucas Oil Raceway.
2006 Kalamazoo series event winner Brian Campbell is entered. He moved into third place on the ARCA/CRA Super Series all-time wins list with 19 after getting the series win at Columbus Motor Speedway on June 25th. Campbell won a series leading four ARCA/CRA Super Series events during the 2015 season and one JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour event. Campbell also has three wins in the Berlin Raceway Super Late Models so far this season.
Current ARCA/CRA Super Series point’s leader Cody Coughlin leads a strong group of CRA competitors entered for next Wednesday night. Coughlin has a series leading three wins so far this season. Coughlin is also the point’s leader in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour with two wins so far this season in that series and he competes in selected NASCAR Camping World Truck events for Kyle Busch Motorsports.
Second in series Championship points Dalton Armstrong is entered and comes in with a lot of confidence after getting the biggest win of his career in in the July 16th 50th Annual Redbud 300 at Anderson Speedway. The Senneker Performance Rookie of the Year point’s leader has two series wins so far this season and is only 15 points behind point’s leader Coughlin.
Other top CRA drivers entered includes three time ARCA/CRA Super Series Champion Johnny Van Doorn, 2015 ARCA/CRA Super Series Champion Grant Quinlan, third in series points Wes Griffith Jr., who got a CRA high second place finish in the Redbud 300, fourth in series points Thomas Woodin, Chris Koslek, former Kalamazoo Late Model Champion Phil Bozell who is third in points with the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour and got a third place finish in this event last year, John Neal and Jason Timmerman who is entered to make his second ever start with the ARCA/CRA Super Series.
There are several drivers from the Kalamazoo/Berlin area entered, many of whom compete in the Berlin Raceway
Late Models and in selected CRA events including Tim DeVos, Jay Niewiek, Ben Welch, Jordan Dahlke, Ken Wobma, Dave Simpson and Kalamazoo Super Stock Champion Buddy Head, who will drive for car owner Chris Terry again after finishing 14th in this event last year after ignition problems.
There will be an open practice on Tuesday, August 9th, pit gates open at 4:30pm with practice going from 5:30 to 8:30pm. On Wednesday pit gates will open at 11am. Practice will begin at 1:30pm, with qualifying at 4pm. There will be an Autograph Session with all the drivers competing Wednesday night at 5:30pm. The race program will begin at 7pm and will include the Kalamazoo Klash 125 for the ARCA/CRA Super Series. The Kalamazoo Klash XXIV will follow the ARCA/CRA Super Series race, it will also be 125 laps and will have two time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Champion Matt Crafton competing in it.
