Boyne Machine Company 125 Part of Kalamazoo Klash XXIII
Salem, Indiana (Monday, August 10, 2015): The ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS will head back to Michigan for the Boyne Machine 125 this Wednesday, August 12th as part of the Kalamazoo Klash XXIII Presented by Boyne Machine Company and Enterprise Iron & Metal at the famed Kalamazoo Speedway, located just outside Kalamazoo, Michigan. The Kalamazoo Klash is the one of the top Outlaw Super Late Model events in the nation held each year at Kalamazoo Speedway, this will be the ARCA/CRA Super Series second time being a part of this huge event.
This will be the fifth series event at Kalamazoo Speedway, Fred Campbell got the win in the first ever series event held there in 2002, Andy Ponstein got the win in 2005 and Brian Campbell got the win in the series event in 2006. NASCAR Star Kyle Busch got the win in last year’s event after a tough battle with three time ARCA/CRA Super Series Champion Johnny VanDoorn.
NASCAR Camping World Truck Series competitor John Hunter Nemechek tops the list of entries for Wednesday’s event, Nemechek picked up his first ever ARCA/CRA Super Series win on July 24th at Lucas Oil Raceway. Nemechek won the prestigious Snowball Derby in December and has claimed two JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour wins so far in 2015 at SpeedFest 2015 and the July 4th Mercy Masters of the Pros 144 at Lebanon I-44 Speedway.
A ton of CRA talent is also entered including Brian Campbell, a two time ARCA/CRA Super Series winner in 2015 at the series April 11th season opener at Toledo Speedway and in May at his home track Berlin Raceway. Campbell is now fifth on the series all times win leaders list with 16 including his Kalamazoo Speedway win in 2006. Campbell won the August 1st JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour event at Berlin Raceway and has three wins in the Boyne Machine Super Late Models at Berlin Raceway so far this season.
Current series Championship and Senneker Performance Rookie points leader Grant Quinlan is entered along with second in points Hunter Baize, who picked up his first series win in May at Illiana Motor Speedway and third in points Eddie Van Meter who picked up a series win in April at Anderson Speedway and won the July 17th JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour event at Anderson. Other top CRA regulars entered include Wes Griffith Jr., rookies Matt Hall and Mark Lambert, Paul Shafer Jr., 2013 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Champion Cody Coughlin, who picked up his first series win at Winchester Speedway on Labor Day 2014, 2013 series Rookie of the Year Ali Kern and JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour leading rookie Quinnton Bear.
There are several drivers from the Kalamazoo/Berlin area entered, many of whom compete in the Berlin Raceway Boyne Machine Late Models including Chris Koslek, Terry Van Haitsma, Tim Devos, Alec Carll, Dave Lake, and Joe Bush, as well as Michigan native and part-time series competitor Jay Niewiek. Former Kalamazoo Late Model Champion Phil Bozell is entered, he has been a regular competitor with the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour in 2015 were he is fourth in series driver points. Also entered is Kalamazoo Super Stock Champion Buddy Head, who will make his series debut Wednesday for car owner Chris Terry.
There will be an open practice on Tuesday, pit gates open at 4:30pm with practice going from 5:30 to 8:30pm. On Wednesday pit gates will open at 11am. Practice will begin at 1:30pm with qualifying at 4pm. The race program will begin at 7pm and will include the Boyne Machine Company 125 for the ARCA/CRA Super Series. The Kalamazoo Klash XXIII will follow the ARCA/CRA Super Series race, it will also be 125 laps this year.
