Anderson, Indiana (Saturday, August 8, 2015): Josh Poore took advantage of the inversion to dominate the Champion Racing Association Street Stock 75 at Anderson Speedway on Saturday.
Poore qualified fifth quick with the top ten drivers all within four-tenths of each other in the final appearance of the CRA Street Stocks of the season.
Entering the night five points behind Jason Atkinson for the CRA Street Stock championship, Poore’s win combined with Atkinson’s 12th place showing likely put the Anderson driver at the top of the standings. There are three more point races remaining, two at Winchester Speedway and the third at Lucas Oil Raceway.
Tyler Marsh took the lead from the pole positon chased by Poore, Jacob McElfresh, Colby Lane and Atkinson.
On the fifth lap Poore was able to slip underneath Marsh down the back straight and completed the pass entering turn three.
The first of only two caution flags waved on lap 41 when Ryan Amonett made contact with Atkinson in turn three while they were battling for the fifth spot. Atkinson spun and collected the car of Andrew Cook, ending both driver’s nights.
Poore maintained the lead on the restart with Lane moving into the third spot with an outside pass of McElfresh on the front straight. The final caution flag waved on lap 46 when Andrew Teepe spun in the second corner.
Lane passed Marsh on the front straight and set his sights on Poore, who had pulled away from the pack.
Poore went on to win by 1.8-seconds over Lane with Marsh coming home in third.
It was Poore’s fourth overall win of the season and his first in CRA competition in 2015.
“Track position is so important here,” Poore said of starting on the front row.
Poore said he didn’t want to see the two Interstate Auto Auction restarts that bunched up the starting field.
“I looked at the scoreboard and saw Colby (Lane) was runing second and I knew he was fast,’ he said. “I just made sure I was running my line.”
